Illegal Roster Size (patched as of 7/21)
I just downloaded the newest version of the patch this AM (with the crash fixes) and got this error when trying to sim multiple seasons. I started in 2006 with Cubby/Rolen rosters and left all teams managed by computer. I was just going to let the game sim 10 seasons or so and then stop it to check out the stats. Rule 5 is on and so are minor league free agency (basically, I am mimicing MLB).

Check out the active and 40 man roster size (10 and 20 respectively). Then look at the DFA box. It's loaded.

I presume Boston is AI-controlled?
Thanks, Steve |

Grrr, the bug that would not die.
![]() Logged this specific one as TT # 2366. Can you zip up your .dats and FTP them to us? IP Address: 217.158.3.6 Username: ftp-public Password: public folder ootp/game-save You can FTP the file here using your handy web browser. Just navigate to ftp://217.158.3.6, and press Enter. Then enter the user name and password specified, and go into the ootp/game-save folder. Copy and paste your zipped league (just the .dat files), then post back with your zip name! |

There should be a bp.zip file there for you. I'm not sure if I zipped all the right files you needed. I only found 3 different .dat files.

There should be 13 .dat files in the "root" of your .lg folder: coaches.dat human_managers.dat injuries.dat messages.dat names.dat offers.dat options.dat parks.dat players.dat scouting.dat teams.dat trades.dat world.dat Depending on your Windows settings, these may appear without the .dat extension. Thanks, Steve |

I started a brand new league today with Cubby/Rolen rosters and simmed a full season (very happy with how the leaderboards looked statistically btw) and I brought the game one week into ST and started looking at the rosters. Here's a few examples (TEAM: X/X on active roster, X/X on 40 man roster, $ avail):
Remember: It's 2007 (yr 2 of the league) I am one week in to ST now so active roster size has been expanded yet look at the poor AI use of their roster space: ARI: 15/40, 30/40, $69 million ATL: 21/40, 34/40, $67 million BAL: 15/40, 28/40, $72 million There is also 28 pages of FAs left. It's the second week of ST and Bonds, Sheffield, Carlos Lee are some of the huge names (and talents) that remain unsigned.

I didnt think of this yesterday but I decided to go to league setup today and then other options and selected Allow AI roster changes for all teams and so far it appears to be working better. So, my question is - is the game set with AI roster changes on/off when you start a new league or are they just turned off on the Cubby/Rolen rosters? Also, to avoid this confusion it would be a lot easier if there was a way for me to tell what option has been selected when I look at the other options menu. Right now, the way the game is set up there is no way to tell which option has been selected. I really hope this roster management problem was just a result of unknowingly having AI roster management off. I'm simming multiple seasons now so I'll report back after it gets done.

So, I've been simming for 2 hours and I'm almost through 2011 without any roster issues. Looks like it was just the AI roster management that was turned off.
Again, I highly recommend that this gets adjusted so it shows if AI roster management is on/off.

I'm still having the issue
My error is occurring in one of the minor league teams of a AI controlled team. The solution of setting AI roster management to on has not corrected the error

Markus has claimed that this will be fixed in 1.0.3, but we have not yet received a test version of 1.0.3 with which to test, so it has not been verified.
Thanks very much, Steve |
