Help making Rolen's rosters part of a universe

I tried to follow Cubby directions to inport Rolen's roster into a universe with international leagues, but I keep getting errors:

if I modify NYP, GCL, and AZL to have odd number of teams, selecting that league after importing crashes the game.

If I leave those leagues as they are in the default MAL, the import works fine I think but then I always get one INT team that refuses to maintain a full roster.

Either way in the news the teams and players names are still the fictional names but clicking on them leads to the correct location.

Is there anyone who has done this? This is by no means a complaint about the rosters or the game, both are great. I am just trying to play around a bit
