Question Newbie Qs from brand new OTP player

I must admit that I am intimidated by the game. I have never played any of the SI baseball games. But I was intimidated by Football Manager and I got used to it in a few days.

1) I downloaded the Lehman CSV files. This seems to not have all roster changes since last year. Will there be a new version?

1a) Does the Lehman database have real life rookies?

2) What salary caps are people using?

3) When setting up the game which gives best results: use best season or career totals for calculating potentials??

4) I want to play as Manager and GM. Where is this option in game setup??

I appreciate everyone's help.

The Lehman database is a historical database-meaning its intent is to be as accurate as possible for the end of last season-not the begining of this season. If thats what you are looking for, download one of the MLB 2006 quickstarts out there or wait for the Rolen/Cubby 2006 rosters.

I play in the MLB, so none.

I always go for career totals-but this is only a issue when importing from a DB.

If you are the GM of the team, you in effect act as the manager (setting lineups, etc). This is all handled from your GM homepage. If you want to control the games, you can access that from the schedule screen.

Where do I get these startups? The site has very few downloadable files.

If you play MLB, no salary cap, how do you get luxury taxes? Where do you enter the cutoff point at which taxes are paid?

That link goes to the mod forum. The top thread regarding Rolen/Cubby Fan rosters is about a set of current rosters that they are very close to releasing. They should be fun.

Luxury taxes are not in the game, though you can force a form of revenue sharing onto the game using the "Cash Maximum" setting if you have revenue sharing on. Any money that a team earns over the cash maximum will be redistributed around the league.
