Enter the Pages:The Private Memoirs of George Anderson fictional player signup thread

With apologizes to MattfromTN, as he is the originalor of this base system. Hey if it's done great, what makes me think I can improve on it?

Welcome to the official signup thread for The Private Memoirs of George Anderson. Here you can join in on the fun that I hope to bring to this new side project of mine by putting yourself or others that you'd like to have within the pages.

First wahts' needed from you.

REQUIRED:
FIRST NAME
LAST NAME
BIRTHDATE (birth year minimum)
DOD
PLACE OF ORIGIN
HS or COLLEGE (If College, pick age 19-23)
PREFERRED POSITION
ALTERNATE POSITION (1-2 alt's... this is required, just in case there are no good players for that year at the preferred position)
SPECIALTY (see below)
2ND SPECIALTY

SPECIALTY:
Choose one of the following for the player's specialty & another for his 2nd Specialty...

HITTERS - Contact, Gap Power, Homerun Power, Eye, Avoid K's, Speed, Defense, Arm
PITCHERS - Stuff, Control, Movement, Velocity, Duration, Defense, Hitting

OPTIONAL:
NICKNAME (if desired - just keep it clean & something that would fit into the appropriate era)
HEIGHT
WEIGHT
NUMBER
BATS (R/L/S)
THROWS (R/L)
LOYALITY
NEEDS WINNING TEAM

Here's an example:

FIRST NAME - Chris
LAST NAME - Creed
BIRTHDATE - 10/9/1928
DOD - 12/27/1994
ORIGIN - Peterborough, ON
HS or COLLEGE (If College, pick age 19-23) - HS
PREFERRED POSITION - 1B
ALTERNATE POSITION - LF
SPECIALTY - Average
2ND SPECIALTY - Eye

NICKNAME - Weed
HEIGHT - 6'3
WEIGHT - 250
NUMBER - 99
BATS (R/L/S) - S
THROWS (R/L) - R

A few other things of note:
  1. The league will start in 1920, so anyone born before 1885 will probably have a tough time getting a job.
  2. You can sign up to three players of each last name per generation. For example, if you signed up three Smith's in say 1920, 1921, and 1923, the next Smith allowed would be 1938 (eighteen years after the first one). There is no limit for how many players that you can sign up in total, but only three players per person per year (and they'd all have to be different last names).
  3. Players must be at least eighteen years old
  4. The players do not have to be ancestors. You may give them fictional names of your own, or base them on actual players who never made it to the bigs such as (Oscar Charleston, Josh Gibson, Joe Baumann, Sadaharu Oh), however, as I"m basing this on historical events and happenings, the league will be segregated till 1947, and players from across the Pacific won't be that prominent until the 1990s or so.
  5. No stupid names, please...such as Dick Hurtz, I.P. Freely, Hugh Jazz, etc....

Thats' all that I can think of right now. ENjoy

holy crap we're popular! Thanks folks

I'll hopfully get to simming folks by this weekend of so. I'll throw folks into the game at their eighteenth b-day (unless otherwise noted by their college careers) so we will probably do a few years up to the "present day". So if you want your guy to get in before 1920, get a move on.

Yeah, but can multiple players sign up to debut in 1920 ? Or similar to
metsgeek's the Plauge, where only one created player debut's per year.

good point, and for this I shall make an executive decision (lord help us all) and ammend point #2 in the first post.

You can sign up up to three players in a year, but they all must be different last names (twins excepted, although this will be exceedingly rare and we've already got one claim).
