Roster Project Doomed to Failure

Alright, I'm getting bored with myself and decided to waste some time trying to put together a roster. With September call-ups on the way, I need minor league stats.

I can find the hitting stats for minor leaguers easy enough at milb.com or their own team's website. What I haven't been able to find yet are fielding statistics, hitting charts (so I can determine pull, normal, spray), and any injury history.

Does anyone know of any good websites out there that could provide this kind of information? Help!

Thanks.

Yeah that is the same site as www.milb.com

As far as I have been able to see so far, they just have hitting and pitching statistics.

BA doesn't have fielding stats either, unless I am missing something... # games played and # errors isn't really enough, not when you have to give the guy a range, maybe a arm rating...

I'm so glad I prefer fictional leagues. One button click and my minor leagues rosters are completely accurate! :P

I need something to do, and I'm always bitching to myself about other rosters, so I'm owning up and making one myself.

Boy am I an idiot.

hehehe...if you're serious just hang with it. But do yourself a favor...come up with a plan of exactly how you want to go about it and then just stick to that plan.

In retrospect, I really wish Rolen and I had gone about the plan better. If we had divided the earlier work better this would have been done a while ago. Fact is, it doesn't take THAT long to enter guys once you have the info there. The spreadsheets I work from are very effective, but they were developed for another game and were modified, etc. Rolen and I should have gone about this a bit different and it would have been done sooner (though not by much as there was still a lot going on). I just know I laid out the All-time project, wrote exactly the process I wanted to do, and already have 4 teams entered completely and spreadsheets ready for 10 teams out of 28 total. And I've been at this for less than 2 weeks.

Just my input.

Thanks for the tip. I pretty much have it planned on how I want to do it, I just need to find some place with those minor league fielding statistics, argh. I can't believe even the minor league teams just keep a record of how many errors and not how many chances and assists and how many games played at each position...

minor league fielding stats are very hard to come from. What I always went with for prospects was the scouting reports...find league fld% averages for each position and then just adjust the player's % related to that based on the scouting report.
