Historical Pitchers on Roids?

Running a 1970 historical league. Up to May 6, 1970 and every scheduled day expect one, a pitcher has hit a home run, including two grand slams. I looked at Bill Singer for example. A career .126 hitter. 3 for 4 with a G.S. in his most recent game. I looked at his batting ratings and found them all in the high thirties. Seems high. Would expect something in the teens. Somehow, it looks like the pitcher's batting ratings are getting juiced when they get pulled from the database.
