Spread the word...

No no, not word of mouse again! Just tell whoever you think in your family or in your friends network that might be interested in OOTPB2006

The best form of advertising can come from a hardened fan of the game....

It's in your hands.

Just so you know, Marc, making OOTP5 free was a great idea for convincing people to buy the new version. I was able to have two friends who I thought might be interested (but who thought they'd hate a text based game) download OOTP5, and they're hooked now and will be ordering the new version.

Thats great news!

Markus took the decision to make OOTP5 free. Whilst it may have lost him sales in the short term I think he knew the benefit long term!

Maybe I will setup a booth at a College Campus and promote the game.

Make OOTP 2006 Banners, make flyers where to order the game and get more info, have refreshments and cookies serve and show off the game in action on my laptop.

I always wished I could tell my friends about OOTP. Not only could NOT tell them about the game and try to get them to buy it.....I never even told them that I played the game. I had one friend who had an idea what I was doing and the amount of time I was spending on it but all he gave me was crap. So I kept quiet.

I envy those that played the game and fed their obsession while telling their friends and family.

Well, Port Angeles is kind of an odd place. I spent some time in the area a few years ago, in Sequim actually. People seemed sort of apathetic. Anyway, that was my impression.

Don't worry about it. None of my friends have ever understood.

Only one asked and he never got it. He thought I was playing fantasy baseball and even after I corrected him he continued to believe I was playing fantasy baseball.

Just enjoy the game.

I had one friend continually ask me if I had beaten the game yet. Even after I said you cant "beat" a baseball game. He plays those role playing games so that is likely why.

My girlfriend is understanding. Very, very understanding. When we first got together she sat down with me and made me show her everything I was doing. She actually seemed interested in this game because I liked it and not just because she wanted to impress me.

Other than that.....nobody.

And yes, the Port Angeles and Sequim area are not the greatest for baseball so baseball sim fanatics are not taken all that seriously. Its a nice place and the people are friendly for the most part. When I leave I will always miss the scenery and photo opportunities but it will be nice to get to an area that supports my interests a little better.

I started rolling Strat-O-Matic dice in 1963 (I owned a first edition) and since then I've only met one person that understood what I was really doing --"replaying Baseball seasons". That is over 40 years! I never mention this stuff to anybody I know.

That is exactly the reaction I get. It's funny because I cannot ever see the fun in fantasy/rotissery(sp) leagues. I also find it strange that people will play poker online for hours but they think I am weird if I go online for an hour or so to download various league files.

I continue to spread the word.

I used to feel this way to until I thought that "our" hobby really has no difference from people playing poker, monopoly or scrabble. A game is a game.

O N ANOTHER SUBJECT: I find OOTP an excellant source as a coaching sim. I think that Mr. Duffy might want to try some way to incorporate this into his marketing.
