Tiny Cities Included?

What is the minimum population threshold of towns/cities included in the game? I'm thinking about doing a Nevada-California major league and then not only doing minors but tiny independent leagues....and to be frank, there aren't a lot of cities in Nevada. I'll be scraping the barrel to get places to play. And I want to scrape the barrel. The good half dozen people of Owyhee, Nevada deserve their baseball!

edit....and, funny enough, there are two towns in this state, Mina and Luning, which are next door to each other. And I swear they must have a total population of about 12 combined. The Mina-Luning baseball rivalry? Throw out the record books!

I also remember Markus onetime saying they used SIs database which was every town with over 1000 people.

Today, for any state other than Ohio, it will be inadequate.

Ask again tomorrow.

Oooh, *wince*

Of course, the obvious easy solution for me is to simply use the nearest town.

Or you can add the towns that you want to use to the city file.

Oh, wait. That sounds like it might work, too.

I'm on the right:

Well, if you want to steal my "major" league Cal-Nev League teams/structure to put in the fold, I'll write up the names/structure. I've already used this setup for a single-player OOTP 5 league and I'm just looking to revive it. I've got passable logos, as well.

I'll still run my new Cal-Nev league as a solo player, just wondering if you had use for yet a bigger universe and didn't want to fill in the blanks too much.

In OOTP 5 it was just the Cal-Nev League with a California and a Nevada League with the winners throwing down for the John C. Fremont Trophy. With the new OOTP, I'm hoping to break them up as independent leagues (and add another major league, a Utah League). The Nevada league had 10 teams, 2 divisions, the California League had 8 teams, 2 divisions.

112 teams is enough

I will have the larger Nevada towns covered

Uh... how would this work? None of these towns even has enough people to field their own team! I sense an intensive scouting campaign in the works!

I posted this elsewhere, but in case you missed it:

Go to http://www.census.gov/geo/www/gazett...2k.html#places and download the places2k.txt file (it's in places.zip), extract it, import it into a spreadsheet and trim it to what you want.

"The place file contains data for all Incorporated and Census Designated places in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico as of the January 1, 2000. The file is plain ASCII text, one line per record.

Columns 1-2: United States Postal Service State Abbreviation
Columns 3-4: State Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) code
Columns 5-9: Place FIPS Code
Columns 10-73: Name
Columns 74-82: Total Population (2000)
Columns 83-91: Total Housing Units (2000)
Columns 92-105: Land Area (square meters) - Created for statistical purposes only.
Columns 106-119: Water Area(square meters) - Created for statistical purposes only.
Columns 120-131: Land Area (square miles) - Created for statistical purposes only.
Columns 132-143: Water Area (square miles) - Created for statistical purposes only.
Columns 144-153: Latitude (decimal degrees) First character is blank or "-" denoting North or South latitude respectively
Columns 154-164: Longitude (decimal degrees) First character is blank or "-" denoting East or West longitude respectively"

It has over 25,000 cities, towns, and villages in it.

I've gotten about 11,000 towns smaller than 1000 people added.

Does the game include towns in Canada that have a 1000 people or more? I'm wanting to set up a solo Canadian League.

You know...

For everything smaller than 1000, you could just put in "Regional [insert state name here]". Like "Regional Utah", or "Regional North-West Territories".

Noone can really identify "Woop Woop," anyway, might as well indicate it as "Regional NSW".
