Minimum age???

What if you want to make a little league? Sometimes you want to just simplify everything and try something different. I was thinking about making a little league. You would have to have ages from 10-12 and a maximum career of three years. There would be no trading. All you would have to do is concentrate on good coaching and good scouting for draft picks. You could set up satillite leagues and play each other at the end for a championship. It would allmost be like an allstar bracket. I wonder if ootp will let you drop the age to whatever you want. This would open up alot of possibilities. You could have pony league, colt league, high school leagues. It would be a nice break from your primary league. what do y'all think?

age

Yes, I'd like to start with LL and progress thru pony to HS and college, but would like to use historical players. Ted Williams, mickey mantle in LL.

I don't think the database will accept child sizes, so you'll be stuck with a bunch of 6-foot-two five-year-olds. That, and we can't (yet) set upper age limits.

Still, the idea has merit, and I know a lot of people want to grow their star ballplayers from infancy to Hall of Fame.

Not going to be possible in this version. Sorry to rain on your parade, but what twelvefield said is correct. There's no way to specify age, height, or weight. Nor is there a way to eliminate players from a league if they grow too old.

It would take a MASSIVE db to deal with this.

This sounds like another parody post like the guy who wanted period specific pBp.

Nah, it wouldn't be any bigger than any other database, unless you were trying to replicate all little leagues in the world. Should be perfectly doable to imitate a number of little leagues. No different than imitating a number of minor leagues.

There just simply isn't an option to set the starting ages or age limits on rosters (yet).

Parody posts of the week: this one, the period PbP, the sound request, and the women in the game request.

I predicted a long time ago that things were going to get crazy in May.

I had no idea they were going to get *this* crazy.

While we're at it can we have guys come into the league from say Mexico when they're really 30 and say they're 21 so when their arms fall off in 3 years and they go bald or gray we all wonder why?

And we still have 22 days to go before release!

Consider the aforementioned threads as mere foreplay in terms of their lunacy compared to what we're going to see in another two weeks.

I remember some "where's the H2H?" threads that were far worse than this. I also recall getting into the wrong side of an argument about mods that went pretty far into its la-de-da phase. And then there have been and will be various threads dealing with DIPS theory -- ouch.

Long form short: nobody is forcing anybody to read this stuff. That, and you don't have to comment on things if you really choose not to.

With this game, can we change the actual sport they play from baseball to say, basketball, or (american) football?? Just a thought. I really want to do a pee wee football league for girls under the age of 12. I'll call it the RKPL (R. Kelly's Paradise League).

I agree,

I'm personally holding out for the ability to simulate Ted Williams' childbirth, then teaching him how to hit and throw his first baseball.

Probably won't be in this release; I expect that OOTP 2006's features have been, er, frozen.

Yeah, that would be a great feature, because you know in the end he'll finish AHEAD!

The prospect of ruining your day is what gets me out of bed in the morning.

You guys are all thinking too small.

I want the game to simulate the creation of the universe 13 billion years ago. That way I can get the solar system together about 4.5 billion years ago, then Earth, bombard it with comets to make it wet, get some amino acids to start reproducing, develop primitive life, have it crawl out of the sea, branch off into different families, evolve mammals, placentals, apes, then man. I don't want to just take on faith that we're made to throw curve balls, I want to get to work on the arm and shoulder of our ancestors. Then run the tape forward 5-6 million years and supervise the birth, education, and training of not every anyone who's ever touched a baseball (including at recess) but also every other human who ever lived. I will be seriously pissed if the game cannot meet my reasonable requirements.

Zitofan75... I think you should look into a certain hyped up game that's going around the game news websites at the moment. Google for "Will Wright".
