Depth Chart Question

I noticed on the depth chart screen shot that you could set a sub to play every x number of days. Will the AI automatically sub that guy into the lineup even if you're playing out all your games. I know it didn't in 6.5 and I really wish it would. It would make it a lot easier for us, especially those that don't have great memories. "Oh yeah, I was supposed to start Sanchez today, oops!"

Also, by every x days...is he actually getting a start every 4th day or is he getting 25% of the starts??

Good question with the defensive replacements. I'm a little worried about this, but I have faith that Markus will take care of it.

And the difference is?

If you play every 4th day of a 162 game schedule, you'll start 40.5 games.

If you get 25% of the starts in 162 game schedule, you'll start .......... 40.5 games.

I believe what he's saying is that every four days isn't every four games. So the two would be different.

Making sure my sub gets in 40 games is one point, making sure my starter never plays more than 3 games in a row is another point. This is where the "every x days" provides an additional feature above 25%.

IMHO this is a great feature!

I actually thought about this today. I don't even know how many times that's happened to me, and a guy is playing tired and I keep forgetting to sub him.

The testers will have to answer this one...but I would believe that the substitutions would be made. As for late inning replacements, it would seem that you name the guy as the sub and set "Starts" to "never."

Well I never use the depth chart much anyhow. I like to play out my games. Give guys days off on hunches. Use defensive replacements when I feel it best. That type of stuff. i always double check the line-up.

for defensive replacements I always mark down middle of the 6th as when I "may" start to bring them in. A lot more factors are brought in to my decision of course (like batting order spot is currently, how bad defensively guy is, etc) but that is the point where I start thinking on a defensive mindset if I am ahead (also where I start trying to figure possible PH assignments if behind)

I did have one case where I had a good defensive starting MIF who had a weak bat, and a UIF who was decent hitter and decent fielder (not great in either case, but offensively better and def. worse than starter. I took an unusual platoon: I based who started on who was my starting pitcher that day. If I had a fly/K guy starting the utility guy started. If GB guy the d-specialist started. That solved 4 of my 5 starters. One starter was kind of in-between, so I had to play on other factors (usually went with D when in doubt though)

I am quite sure it is impossible to start half a game.

The wording makes it seem like the players will have a very specific start schedule, which is a change from the current game. I am just curious exactly as to how it works, is there something wrong with that?

...which brings to mind that a feature to auto-sub a position player when fatigue gets to a certain level would be a great idea.
