Add/Delete Same Level League Associations

What I mean by this is how the NL and AL were "associated" with each other, as in they more or less played under the same rules as each other, since the early 1900s, but the were not "one league." Until recently they were two leagues that played each other in the post season. Until they official became "Major League Baseball" they could have ended their association with each other - say if a third, very dominant league formed - and one of the leagues could have associated themselves with the new league. Then the new assocaition could have a post season championship.

Or how in AAA the IL and AA were associated and the PCL was the third wheel. But when the AA folded the IL and PCL associated themselves. **I'm sure not all my facts are completely acurate but my point is, hopefully, made** I have no clue how easy/hard it would be to do this, but I think would add a lot.

This would/could do away with "sub-leagues" which, imo, would be very nice. That way each league is actually a league. It would no longer be "Major League Baseball" and then the International League and Eastern League.

I was suprised to see subleagues in this version. I thought they would have been done away with in favour of direct interaction between entirely separate leagues. Subleagues strike me as a holdover from earlier versions of the game; I just hope that there isn't some kind of programming necessity which has kept them around.

The only place where subleagues are useful is in separating a league into conferences, like the PCL is. Other than that, separate but interacting leagues is the way to go.

I think, in the forthcoming structure, some folks might want to try having "Triple-A Baseball" as a league (with the IL and AA--or IL and PCL--as its subleagues), with its parent league being "Major League Baseball" (with the NL and AL as its subleagues). If I am not mistaken, this would allow the respective champions of the "associated" AAA leagues to play each other in a Little World Series, as used to happen.

But I think I agree with you and LGO that, basically, the ideal structure would be to have no such thing as subleagues, but with a variety of optional ways in which leagues could be associated with each other, including shared rules on drafts and trades, all-star and championship games against each other, and so on.

I'm dreading having to figure out if I want a "AAA Baseball League" with 2 of the leagues as sub-leagues. It's knid of silly that I should have to, but if I want a Little World Series than tha's what I'll have to do.
