Question on Contracts when Creating Custom League

I feel a little dumb asking this question because I don't even know how this worked in OOTP6 but here goes:

I'm thinking of starting a custom league in OOTP2006 with all default players dumped into a draft to start the league off. If I do that, how does the A/I handle contracts? Do they have be negotiated at time of drafting or are they assigned arbitrarily when the players are dumped into the draft pool?

i'm guessing that it'll be done like it was done in previous versions. The contracts are just "given" to the players. TMK, there has never been a great outcry for a change in this, so Markus probably stuck with the status quo.

Thanks, Dark Horse. Are the contracts 'given' to the players before or after you draft them?

IIRC, the contracts are "given" after the draft.

James. I have leagues in version 6 and version 6.5

At the inagural draft in voth versions the initial player pool to draft from has thier contracts already assigned before you draft.

I have never seen a league where the salries were created after teh draft. There is an "adjust team fianaces" button to click, but it doesn't make or change salaries. It adjusts marketing / gate and those types of numebrs.

One team of ours was very intelligent and drafted all of his players by hand in the initial 40 round draft. He avoided the computer draftign him high cost marginal or declinging players as back ups.

Which in our league was a boon as we set draft order by team profitablity instead of finish
