Hi All,
I am new to OOTP4, I just bought it a couple of weeks ago and I just love it, my wife however is not a big fan! Anyway, if I bring up a very good prospect with pretty good numbers at the age of 19 to the majors and make him a starter, will I be stunting his development by not having him spend any time in the minors? Thanks for you help!! Ben |

I would say depends on his "ratings"(numerical), not talent. Also you need to consider how much of a need you have for him. I would say that there is a chance of doing harm, though not certain.

Thanks Steve!
My understanding that talent translated into what the numerical rating would be. I suppose that if his numerical ratings were already at the level of his talent, everything would be alright. Maybe I'll jot down his numbers and send him to the minors for a year or two and see if there's any change. Ben |

I would certainly leave him in the minors, and see how he progresses over the course of a half season. If his ratings are still high, and he's producing, you might want to give him a shot as a backup (but still make sure he gets a fair number of pinch hits or platoon starts occasionally) by mid-season. If he's not producing or his stats waver some, keep him down there. By the age of 21 or 22 he'll be ready to explode (more than likely, lol).

I was actually playing him as a starter in the majors for two years. He's a been hitting in the .280 to .300 range with a good 20 HR and 80 to 90 RBIs. He's only 21. Maybe some time in the minors will go him some good.

The fun thing about this game is that there is no certain answer to the question "if I bring up a very good prospect with pretty good numbers at the age of 19 to the majors and make him a starter, will I be stunting his development by not having him spend any time in the minors?"
You make your choice, and you take your chances and have to live with the consequences.
