This would be controversial like the A-Rod situation, except Nomar isn't that good anymore.

Which brings us to the reason why he decided to play for Mexico rather than the US. Too bad Ken Griffey Sr wasn't born in Panama. Then Junior could have been assured a spot on somebody's team.

He decided to play for Mexico because the president of Mexico baseball lobbied hard for both him and Horacio Ramirez.

The Dodgers also showed no reluctance over this issue, so it was not that hard a decision for him.
