Automatic contract renewals
Is there a good way to tell how many automatic renewals a guy has? Say someone offers me a player in a trade that is making $100,000 and his contrace expires this year. Is there a way to tell if he is in his last $100,000 year before free agency?
The two ways I could think of would be to look at his history and see how many years he's been in the bigs, or to look at his team's roster and see if he's going to be a FA. Is there a better way? |

You can look at a player's page to tell you what year he had his first major league playing time. Add 5 years to it and you'll have the year his first contract officially comes up.

On the Team Player Contract Page, it will say "AUTOMATIC" to the right side where it shows the number of years left if he is going to be automatically renewed.
View this page from the page where it shows all the financial stuff for the team. |
