Single Resource
I was wondering, those people that play historical leagues, why there isn't a single 'ultimate' download for historical play. (For that matter why it didn't ship with the game!)
I'm thinking something along the lines of: Correct Team Changes year by year (or at least instructions - including AAA) Logos/Stadiums that are ERA-appropriate Correct Schedules (even if need importing every season) Accurate ERA adjustment (3rd party calculator?) Photos/Images for all real players. Renewable fictional (era-appropriate) images for fictional players. Database for relatively accurate imports Recommended player creation modifiers for specific eras. I am aware many of these exist in isolation, but I am looking for something similar to the 'all-in-one' install for MLB 2005. Is it possible for something like this to be created? If so, what would you recommend I use for each? (It is my intention that if I can get something acceptable together I might look at hosting it somewhere). This would be great if it existed in one package...but to have "some" of these things you have to put it together yourself.
OOTPB is a very time-consuming game with a lot of prep work and research before you can play a historical league...if you want to try and come close to real life. And you have to play out all league games at least from the sixth inning on to get realistic pitching stats...the pitching stats you get when you totally sim are not realistic...at least in a historical league. It might be ok if you play modern day baseball. |
