Databases

We all know we can import Lahman's DB into OOTP and go to town. Is it possible to adjust the CSV exports from the game to create our own databases with fictional players?

I have this fictional league I've been working with for a long time. Could I go and make a database of all the players of all the years so other people could enjoy it? Or is this something I would have to do by hand? Any excel experts think that something like this could be done?

I believe that he did a project of this sort on one of the older OOTP versions.

Simple to do if you have your seasons in CATOBASE or if using the exporter. From catobase just open the tables in ACCESS and create queries getting the data that is in the same order as the Lahman database. Then just write it out to a new database or to a csv file that would match lahmans... I did this a couple of years ago and it was not difficult. You could also do this from the exporter stats by loading the csv files into access tables and extracting the data in the same way. Can be done easily both ways but it requires you have experience or a good understanding of MS ACCESS and creating queries....

I'm doomed.

Excellent analysis though. Thanks.

I never thought about doing it that way...the SandMan is giving me lots of ideas today...too bad CivIV just came out and I won't be able to act on any of them for a few weeks.

He's good for a lot of interesting information. I just never try it out because I'm lazy.
