Name Files
Which are you using? I only know of one and I know where to get it....but I am curious what everybody is using for their solo (or I guess online) franchises? The default seems to have created some odd names (Journeycake, Way Pitula) and they occur a bit more than I would like them to.

I hand edited an historical name generator to get the desired effects that I want in the Pro Circuit.

I used MD's name file to start the league, but now use Originator at the beginning of each season using a mix of SandMan's Fictional and MD's both names and origins.
On a side, but related, note can anyone tell me the specific folder location of the nicknames.dat file the game goes to when creating the player? I'm using 6.5. Does it go to the OriginDat folder and assign them when I run Originator or is this out of my initial control?

Ive never come across a name generator. Where would I find that and how exactly does it work?
Getting rid of another Journeycake (last name, fortunately) is my #1 goal right now. I know that I can just edit the file but then I would have to go through the entire thing looking for other odd names, and I dont know if I want to do that. I would like something a bit more random than me deciding what stays and goes.

There's a name file set in my .sig that fixes the silly names problem and has clear instructions.
I'm still working on a complete replacement name set for OOTP. With the help of others here I compiled a better and more realistic Asian name set and a better and more realistic Latin name set; they're both done. I also compiled a much better nickname file (Markus included it in the nickname file in the current version of the game). At the moment I'm working on the main name set, getting the last name frequencies just right. When it's done I'll post it for everyone to use and will also offer it to Markus for OOTP 2006.
