How does the computer use position players to pitch?

I've never seen it in a game, but if I review the year-end stats each year there are always 2 or 3 position players who have pitched (usually catchers). They usually come in during games where most available pitchers are used. How does the computer do it? Is it in the code to bring someone in when no available pitchers are left? Has anyone tried it when all their pitchers were used?

PS: In HB5 or 6 there was code where the last available pitcher would have unlimited stamina. During a 32 inning game, I saw the last two pitchers for each team throw the last 16 innings.

Just something that the AI is able to do currently. I like it myself.

Nonsense. I use position players to pitch all the time, although I can't remember exactly how it's done at the moment.

You simply insert them into the lineup and selet "P" as their position.
