This is the best basketball sim I've played since... geez, Live '95? It is really, really great, and requires you to really think about basketball when you play it. Are you the kind to try stupid, off-balance long-range shots because 3s are worth more than 2s? Prepare to defend the break then, because you *will* see 3 on 2s and 2 on 1s. You can run the give and go now, and I've seen teammates automatically set picks for me when I try to get past my opponent using the new Isomotion. Best of all, Visual Concepts got rid of the unnecessarily tricky free throw shooting and in the process created more fouls on the default settings.

Fantastic game. Makes you wonder whatever happened to that one EA Sports basketball sim... it was pretty cool about a decade ago...

Note: Disregard the title. I am a moron, but nonetheless am speaking about the Visual Concepts game, not the EA Sports one.

NBA Live was my favorite for years, but it has really let me down over the past 5 years (ever since the L3 on PS2 was the move player button). I'll have to rent it and give it a whirl.

Ps. I would jack up 3's all night long with Matt Bullard from 93-98.

2k6 is officially the best basketball sim ever. No question.

I bought it but haven't played it yet. What does everyone like about it so much that makes it the best ever?

In a nutshell, the AI is very, very realistic. That makes it very hard, but not hard in an arcadey way, hard in a "man, I really have to play fundamental basketball in order to win" way. Graphically it's superior too, but it's been that way for the last 3-4 years now so that's nothing new. And there is a tremendous amount of customizeability as to how the game is played itself; unfortunately, you still can't play with less than 30 teams, but you can, if you wanted to, move all the sliders around to recreate 1970s or even 1950s basketball.

Question, what is the maximum number of seasons the game allows? Thanks.

I've been looking forward to this all year. Glad to hear it's as it should be. They've been producing the best basketball games for at least 3 years now. Their college games are pretty special too. They capture the flow of the game better than any Live edition (though '95 was indeed awesome).

Anyone know where I could find realistic sliders? Too lazy to search.
