rain outs

i remember hearing that in the new ootp6.5 it can schedule double headers & things like that but that really isnt realistic, i cant remember the last time i've seen a double header that wasnt caused because a game was rained out. i've never seen a game get rained out in ootp, so that'd be a neat feature to add. sometimes maybe you'll get 3 innings into a game & the game will be called on the count of rain & other times u might not even get a game started because of the rain

Sure, if postponements could be added, that'd be great. On the same line of thinking, I wouldn't mind seeing rain or darnkess shortened games, say games that only go 6 or 7 innings but are still final (this was much more common in earlier days than it is now). Even the rare tie game would be a treat to see.

But the problem with rain outs is the rescheduling aspect. It is not as easy or simple as one might think; there are a great many variables that need to be considered as to where a rained out game should be made up. Add to that the fact that the rules governing this have changed over the years, and in older MLB schedules, planned doubleheaders were much more common than they are now (indeed, the Sunday and holiday doubleheader was a fixture in MLB schedules for many years; by the late 1970s though the scheduled twin bill had dwindled considerably compared to earlier years, and went all but extinct by the mid-1980s). Having a schedule doubleheader get rained out when recreating, say, the 1940 MLB season is going to mean two games to make up, and in less time, since the season only ran 24 weeks long back then.

I expect it would be very difficult to program an effective automatic rescheduling routine; the dates of make up games could be left to the player, but if there are a lot of them in a given season, it could get pretty tedious rescheduling all those games.
