Learning a new position

What's the trick to this? I wasted 5 points on 4 players and not a single one was able to adjust to it, so it failed. I wasn't giving them crazy positions either. Two left fielders could not adjust to rightfield. A catcher and a 3rd basemen could not adjust to 1st base.

Is the trick just to train them while in the minors? Because I won't ever try that again in spring training.

Yeah, pretty much. Some guys won't catch on, but most will if you just give them a new position in the minors.

And that's just it, there is no trick. As in any management, "you rolls your dice, you takes your chances." Even after successful conversion in the minors, if that happens, it isn't unlikely that you may still wish to devote Spring Training points to that player next year at that position if the season itself doesn't produce the results in fielding performance you desire. It's all investment.
