Why doesn't OOTP remember my Warmup Rule preference?

PBP location sticks from game to game, so does PBP speed and the "reduce foul balls in pbp" option.

Why, oh, why does the game always set the Warmup Rule to "no"? It's a minor annoyance, but...

Maybe for 6.5b?

Never has done this, I've mentioned it before but not sure why it still does this.

I figure that it's the least I could do, since I rarely play solo with any strict house rules.

Yeah, it's a command-line switch that has to be typed into Markus C++ editor in England

Ah. Let me just open up a telnet session.

Are there any (other) command-line switches currently?

is there a way to tell when your pitcher is ready to come into the game after you warm him up?

if you put a cold pitcher in, will it affect him if playing with warm up on?

Yes.

CurrMRstatus = MRrating / pitches_thrown
if CurrMRstatus <= 0
then CurrMR = ShowerMR
goto routine Bpen
else
goto next play

He was making a joke. He was saying that Markus need to do this IN CODE:

For example:

int SetWarmupRule (bool bWUP)
{
if (bWUP == true)
varWUP = 1; //This means that it is turned on, for example, could be any number.
else
varWUP = 0; //This means that it is turned off, for example, could be any number.

return varWUP;
}

I know, that's geeky, but he was making a joke, not talking about command line switches or settings.

I programmed for about 15 years and was a head programmer (the guy that doesn't actually program but tells everyone else what's good and what's bad!) for about 5 years after that. Then I got into IT R&D.

If you use the warm-up feature, on the lineup screen two boxes are beneath the box at the top of the page showing your current pitcher. If you put a reliever into one of those bullpen boxes, it says "warming up." After three batters or so, it changes to "warm." Then he's ready.

Sometimes I bring pitchers in before they're totally ready (e.g., after an injury since the game doesn't recognize it should give a reliever as much time as he needs). If a reliever's not fully warmed up he gives up a higher incidence of walks and/or hits to the first batter or two. It mainly seems to decrease his effectiveness for a batter or two (till he's warm) and then he's fine.

I like the warm-up feature; it forces me to plan ahead and makes the game a bit more challenging.

Why, oh, why does the game always set the Warmup Rule to "no"? It's a minor annoyance, but...

Maybe for 6.5b?
Yeah... that's sad. But I'm so accustomed of switching it that if it was fixed, I probably would switch it to off.

That's a nice feature, adding to the planning of the game.

As you say, it's a minor annoyance... but maybe for 6.5b!!

Too me it adds another layer of reality to the game. I also figure I already have an advantage over the AI any way and this is a way to give some of that back.

I like it when I think I have a safe lead and am only warming up my "mop up" guy. Then my starter maybe walks a guy, hits the next, and then a 3 run jack and on top of that he becomes tired. Now my lead is only one or two but because things went to pot so quickly all I have is the mop-up guy to go to. Things like this could end up costing you a game or two over the course of a season and perhaps a division title. And to me at least this is more fun even though a game may get away that I should have won.

I agree. Using that feature really puts you more into the driver's seat. If you could just place anybody you wanted in, then Joe Torre would have an easier time.
