How many Triple Crowns have you seen in your league history
So far in this one i am currently running i just had my first one after 42 years.
Duffy Lewis had a .307 avg, 8 hr, and 81 rbi. No pitchers have had a triple crown yet Oh but he lost the MVP to Tris Speaker. I think Speaker's defense helped him win it cause they were pretty close except for homers. I use their total winshares and grey ink points and add them togther. Pitchers have to get 50% more than the highest hitter to win the MVP. Speaker won it 54.2 to 46.8 I felt like giving it to Lewis but i dont think a triple crown should guarantee an MVP. 3 Hitting triple Crowns so far:
Tom McCreery AL Triple Crown 1910: .333, 61HR, 146RBI Babe Ruth NL Triple Crown 1924: .350, 74HR, 169RBI Lou Gehrig NL Triple Crown 1928: .341, 51HR, 147RBI I have seen quite a few pitching triple crowns so far. Most of them by the same guy, Dana Fillingim.

After 8 seasons, none in the Metros yet. A few have come close. Although Dave Walden (Rivermount Summits) has a good shot at it in my current season.

Through the 1933 season...the Historical Baseball League has had 4 Triple Crown winners:
1923 - Rogers Hornsby (NYY) .370 - 30 - 121 1925 - Rogers Hornsby (NYY) .392 - 38 - 120 1930 - Lou Gehrig (Bro) .365 - 50 - 159 1932 - Jimmy Foxx (NYY) .337 - 37 - 143 Just realized that 3 of the winners played for the Yankees. I use Ankits database and let rookies get drafted. Minor tweaking before rookie season as I feel fit...then I leave alone.

What is the pitching triple crown? Wins, ERA, and strikeouts or something else?

1922 AL Babe Ruth-NYN AVG: .389 HR: 53 RBI: 142. Yes the Red Sox actually traded the Babe to the Yanks.
So far through 1924....thats been it. The 53 HR's and 142 RBI are both league records to this point. |

Johnny Mize had a couple in the 30's and 40's. Babe Ruth also had like 4, but that was in an old league on v4.

Another Triple Crown
Mel Ott repeated the feat in 1934: .339, 53HR, 142RBI
This gives Ott 2 straight Triple Crowns and also 4 straight NL MVPs. And to think he is still only 26.

Babe Ruth has had 2 in my historical replay (using Ankit's database) in his 1st 9 seasons (I am at work so I don't have the details with me). He has also won the Outstanding Batter in every one of his 9 seasons.
Another question, does it indicate anywhere in the players card or the HTML report that someone has won the Triple Crown (I realize that it says in the News announcement for the Outstanding Batter)? |

Lou Gehrig just barely won my first hitting triple crown in the 1929 season, he edged Harry Heilmann for the batting crown .378 to .376 and tied Cristobal Torriente for the RBI crown with 150, he won the HR crown easily over Al Simmons 49 to 29.
Ed Walsh & Walter Johnson are the only pitchers to winning the triple crown. Ed Walsh during the 1908 season, came close a couple of other times but usually fell short in the wins category but played for some pretty bad teams during his career. Walter Johnson has won 3 (1916, 1918, & 1919). He almost won 5 straight (1916-1920) but finished second in era in 1917 Jeff Tesreau led the AL with a 2.00 to Johnson's 2.09 and in 1920 finished second in strikeouts to Dick Redding 260 to 211. |
