Problem with Signing Extensions

Currently we have in our league 28 teams and on each team there are certian players that have multi-years deals and when you check their contract demands it says they will sign a minor league extension even though they have say 2 or 3 years remaining on their current deal. Any idea what is up?

From what I understand, the minor league extensions take effect after the current contract runs out. I've never actually tested it to find out. They do not override the current contract, I know that.

Okay but why would they take a minor league contract instead of becoming a free agent. Really doesn't seem to make sense. Why would the player just not become a free agent after his current contract runs our? That is what has me puzzled.

Usually it's cuz they really suck. Another possibility is that they are currently in the minors. For some reason, it seems (although I have not tested in detail) guys in the minors don't mind accepting a minor league contract no matter how good or bad they may be.

Thanks

the guys i have this with are in the majors on the active roster, they aren't superstars but at the same time they aren't useless they would be about average, and they still have years left. I am wondering outloud if this is a bug or not. Seems to me it is but not sure.

Thanks for all your help
