Competing in Tournament Without Variants

From guys that have played a long time, is it possible to compete in tournaments with variants in the mix without having any? Or are you basically drawing dead and should just stick to no variant tournaments?

Variants can make your job tougher, but they aren't "instant win".

A variant of a 'bad' card doesn't make it a great card.

plenty of people build bad teams with strong cards. you can definitely do well with good builds with non variants. but obviously the strong builders that also have strong cards will do better. needless to say, you can win any tournament if your build is decent and you have good rolls.

Tournament Rewards

One of the elephants in the room is no reward for 3rd/4th place in quick 27 tournaments. That stinginess has been felt by many players.

Had to go find this and yes, wondering how 27 compares to 26 in Dailies and Weeklies.

Those packs were not added until later in the cycle. At this point, the prizes were the same.

You can not compare May of 27 to October of 26.

Why do I feel that the rewards changed earlier than that?

I never said they changed then. It definitely wasn't by may, though. I can see if I can find reference to it.

It was June 5th, and that was because most of the casual players stopped playing in quicks. It was an effort to get them back. IMO

Filling up Quicks

Secondary Quicks very slow to fill. Taking about 84 snap-rs-etc and non live slots. Low diamond, my long-term favorite, taking 2-3 hours. Irons, Bronze and Silver very quick.

Looks like a matter of upper level databases filling slowly. Is it "too" slow, Don't know. My Low Diamond still not competitive.

A lot will change if we get PP sale for Memorial Day.

those are just less popular. they always are. people don't want to bulid formats they have to think about, they just want to create a copy paste team they can use in multiple formats and repeat.

that is why caps are less popular
