I am not seeing an explanation in manual of the in-game choice to "Pitch to Contact".

I've never used it except out of desperation: "Meat, your regular approach ain't working - try pitching to contact."

Pitching to contact means trying to throw every pitch in the strike zone. It's also a way of trying to keep the pitch count down.
General idea is to generate weak contact and or groundballs
