Need Help - Playoff Structure

I've been away from FHM for a while, so am a little rusty.

I am changing my NHL sim from the OG (2 conference 6 divisions) structure to a realigned 2 conferences 8 divisions structure.

I had hoped to have the top two teams from each division qualify for the playoffs, but I don't think that will possible (please let me know if it is).

If I choose one of the 8 teams per conference option, will the top team from each division at least qualify? Can anyone suggest the best playoff format for me to use?

yes I think the Division winners will automatic qualify for playoffs
