New Trading Mechanics

I pretty much stay off the forums these days but this was something I felt strongly enough to actually share a post on. I'm in a really excellent stats only, online league (Figment if anyone is interested) that really satisfies most of my ootp needs. Every once in a while though, I do get the itch to slow things down and play out games. So I created a simple 16 team, 4 level fictional league (stats only) to try and build a cellar dweller up. I decided to use the hard trading mode and the gm reputation system. I have to say that I think both these systems are very strong editions to the game. The fact that I cannot rely on the "make the deal work now" option makes a dramatic difference alone. I also like how your reputation takes a hit if you simply try and send multiple offers looking for the best one. Now maybe with ratings on it isn't that big of a deal, but for a fully fictional stats-only player this gives the trading mechanic some sharp teeth. I have come to realize that in every version of this game the trading ai gets put through the ringer, sometimes I feel the criticism is a bit over the top and based on people's personal perspectives about real life players in a current game. Although, sometimes when I read them I do scratch my head at what the ai is thinking at times as well. I definitely try and recognize both sides of the issue. For what it's worth, the way I enjoy the game these new mechanics are fantastic editions.

For the difficulty I have it set 4 to the right (toward hard) from center.
For Preference it is right in the middle.

I believe both were default settings. Also my weights are set to:

ratings 0
current year 66
previous 23
2 year 11

Because I'm playing stats only. Without any ratings whatsoever I don't have any need for that to be weighted.

I’ve been waffling on getting 24.
How much better is the trade engine 23 vs 24 overall?

If that was the sole reason to update….would it be worth the upgrade in your opinion?

I may be the wrong person to ask as I mostly play online and trading against humans will always be a more realistic experience to me. Still, I do think these changes to the mechanic are worth the upgrade. Especially, if you are a player that wants to eliminate the temptation of the "make it work now" feature. To go further though, and maybe I'm underselling this feature but your reputation will also take a hit if you are playing fast and loose against the ai. What I mean by that is if I make a deal with a team to get rid of player "X" and a team accepts, but then I go and try and make a better deal with another team because I know what I have with team "y" my reputation will take a hit when I make that deal with team "z". I had a deal in place and accepted and I backed out for a deal somewhere else. I think that bit of realism is a worthwhile addition.
