Tournament slump

Anyone else ever hit a gigantic tournament slump?

48 hours in and counting, and all I've earning in that timeframe is 200PP. I don't even want to tell you how many tournaments (mostly of the iron and bronze variety) that I've entered in in that time frame and failed! And yes I have tried a few different lineup types to "shake things up", to no avail.

Hoping this embarrassing admission will stop the skid. Calling out all my players - they need to stop socially distancing themselves from the baseball!!!

Yep.

Went two fulls days (participating in roughly 50+ tournaments) and I won 1 regular pack coming in second place in an Iron tournament.

RNG is a b***h.

The purgatory has ended as I finally managed to win a 16-team bronze tournament. The reward wasn't bad at all ... managed to pull 3 79 OVR cards out of 2 packs.

Same. I looked a little at my players and added some player strategy like DeSheilds the green light to steal bases all the time. But mostly it was through examine tourney and auction house.

I examined the teams that were winning the championship in the tourney's I lost. Noticed some starting pitchers that were pretty dominant on several teams (I had one inactive unused). Found two others in the AH and that helped me in Bronze tournaments. But if you open a lot of packs like me one or two might just be inactive. You can check a player's avg selling price while sifting through your reserves and that will give you an idea if they are big tourney players. Several are more PP because of a mission though.

I focused putting together on Non-Live teams. They aren't as crowded. PP to buy in AH is steeper but sifting through all these Live players you can get paralysis by analysis which doesn't do any good. And doing a shakeup in lineups or actives every now and then can take longer. But that's me and only in Bronze. Working on a Silver team now.

Have patience.

If you've assembled what you believe is a good team, hang in there. The teams are so close in ability, particularly at the lower levels, that it can be disheartening. My Port Ruppert team went two solid days, more than 30 tourneys per day with only the odd 200 prize to show. Last night, when I knocked off, I dropped them into a final 32-game iron. I noticed they were still playing the daily iron, but I was tired and didn't check. This morning I found they had won 4 packs for the 32, and 8 for second place in the daily (after being up, 3-2, in the final.

My advice is hang in there. When they're running cold, make the occasional check to see that the line-ups haven't got messed up (which happens on rare occasions) and that they're not always getting blown out in the first round. If they're making a decent show most of the time, stay with the roster, if you like what you've built. If you must tinker because it's fun for you, then tinker away and enjoy. Just remember, when the talent level is this/close, today's two days, 200 PP, can become tomorrow morning's 12-pack surprise.

If your team is winning slightly more than 50%, then your expectation is 3 packs in 16 entries of a best of 5 tournament. 8 entries survive to round 2 4 to round 3 and 2 to the final round where you win 1 and lose 1. That equals 3 packs. You won't know if your team is winning slightly more than 50% of games unless you track it.
