Year to Year Players

I have bought the 1976 and 1977 seasons for iOOTP.

Ron Guidry is a MR in 1976 with a stamina of 10, while in 1977 he is a SP phenom.

I just completed the 1976 season, and went through the off season. But at the start of the 1977 season, he is still a MR.

How to I get him to change to SP? When I use "set position" his numbers are all still MR, and with a stamina of 10, and certainly not the phenom he was.

Thanks in advance!

While I can't really answer your question what I have learned is that the game isnt like strat or APBA. Loading the next season doesn't change the abilty of the player based on his actual performance in that season. I had Jack Morris as a rookie MR thinking I was going to move him into the starting rotation and he ended up being no more than a mop up reliever. I havent figured out if it becomes hit or miss with no logic behind it or if I am doing something wrong. I kept Morris in the minors until I saw the green arrow, brought him up gave him innings and couldn't even get him to become a good RP. In some sense it makes it more interesting but on the other hand having a Tony Gwynn bat .218 is kind of strange. On the hand Ron Hassy led the AL RBI one year.

I am in my 8th season (I play out every game on fast PbP) and have not had one SP develop. I have used free agency and trades to keep my SP afloat. On the other hand I have had some luck with position players and RP.

That was a lot of helpful observations, and with one season's play (I play like you) I've started to notice the same.

However, I just can't seem to figure how to develop players as well.
