Let the rivalry begin

I would like to see a feature were you could select a rival for the teams in a league. Maybe after you select a rival team you will see increase fan interest if you win and decrease if you lose. With all the games against your rivals sell better than just regular season games. Just a thought and dont think it would be hard to put in the game but I have no programming experience.

That's actually a pretty good idea. Maybe Markus can include something like that in V7.

This would have to be optional because it certainly wouldn't be realistic. When the Cards lose a game to the Cubs (very long standing rival) and vice versa, those teams fan interest doesn't decrease all of a sudden. Fan interest in a team is much more affected by overall wins/losses than just against an individual team.

Yeah, instead of fan interest increasing or decreasing, it could be coded to just be a boost in attendance, like a weekend game is now.

In reality, when the Cubs and Cards play, it doesn't matter where the game is played, or who wins, attendance is generally higher than a game vs Atlanta or NY or Houston, etc... SOOOO, how's this for an idea:

Each team gets 1 rival
ALL games vs that rival should have a boost in attendance.

i like this idea. i think it was brought up a while back. My preference would be something dynamic where the rivalries would evolve based on the team's histories.

If a player from one team hits the best player from another team and injures him; or starts a brawl.

Or two teams battle for the playoffs several seasons or meet in the playoffs several times. The rivalry grows.

But i admit that would probably be too hard.

Simply choosing a rival or two for each team would be a nice compromise.

I like the idea as well, there could be an option to let the game determine rivalries based on formulas from past games or based on geographic location or let the human determine the rivals...a boost in attendence sounds like the right way to go
