Signing bonuses
I'm just getting back into playing OOTP again after getting a new computer so I haven't played at all with the most recent patches.
I used Skydog's fictional league modifiers to set up my league and I simulated 20 years to create some history. I then took over a team and had the 10th pick in the amateur draft. Much to my surprise, 4 of the top 5 players in the draft are still available at the 10 pick (coaches and scouts are off). Apparently the problem is that no one wants to pay the $3 million dollar signing bonuses that the top guys want so they are selecting 3 star guys that they don't have to pay much of a bonus to. Is this a one year anomaly or a common problem with the draft? I like playing with signing bonuses on but if the teams with the high picks are going to skip over guys because of this, I will toggle it off. I'm interested in hearing what others have found on this issue. |

Depending on how you look at this, not necessarily a problem at all. Think of how many players drop down in the draft in real life because of signability questions. Call it the Scott Boras effect.
