Here's a what if......
I am thinking about starting a solo-league using "real" players imported from Lahman's DB.. But here is the twist...
Rather than put them on the team there were on... Make it a "what-if" league - have all players randomly drafted by the computer as opposed to putting them on their real roster (Starting in 1901) and continuing thru the years with a "computer draft" rather than importing to real teams.. You could get some "classic" rosters... I will use the ERA Calc to help normalize the sim to get as close as I can to accurate results... Any ideas to add to this ? |

It's been done before many times, but we're always interested in alternate histories of baseball. Of course, if you were looking to do something original, you might want to think of something else.

The 'alternate baseball universe' has been done before, but each time someone undertakes it I have some interest. If you can write an entertaining 'story' around your dynasty, it will be enjoyable. Just think of these two keys to a good dynasty:
1 - Set forth a plan, and then accomplish it. If you want to do a alternate history from 1901 to present day, make sure you have the drive to accomplish it. It is a big undertaking, but it has been done before. Decide now if you are taking over a team, what you do about expansion, etc. Set those things down before starting - it's a lot easier to plan that out ahead so you have a map to follow when you get there. 2 - Make sure it's fun for you. If it is, you'll keep going and that's the hardest part of any dynasty is to keep going. Good luck!

Perhaps for something different, you should do what is sort of being done int he baseball chronicle, but wholesale - create Negro League players and integrte them intot he bigs.

If you really want to do something different, have the MVP or Cy Young award winner each season have some freak career ending injury during the following winter. You could call it the Curse of Perfection.
