No amateur draft

I want to create the American Baseball League, with no amateur draft. I want the teams to add players via free agency only. In a perfect world, the MLB would have their draft like normal, and the ABL will sign guys who weren't drafted, as well as guys who are fringe MLB players, or who want more playing time, etc. (The top ABL league will be just below the majors, Division 2 just below AAA, and Division 1 just below AA).

My question is, will players be auto-generated for the each league, or can they come from the same pool is MLB (or any other league one would want)? If this isn't built in, I'm wondering if there will be a workaround.

bump.

If I was unclear, basically I'm wondering if there's one giant pool of players, or if each "sub-league" has their own pool of players. Is this customizable?

The way I have understood it is that each league "creates" their own players (unless they are an affiliated minor league). So, in your situation the ABL is likely going to create some players, but can also have access to MLB's free agent pool if you want it to. However, you may be able to easily work around this by creating only a one-round draft with low creation modifiers in the ABL. This would ensure that only a few players are created and would make it a necessity for the league to sign guys from MLB.

We really aren't going to be able to get a real good picture of how all of these type of things are going to work until the game comes out and we can test it for ourselves.

Thanks AndyMac, that definitely makes sense. I guess I could create an MLB draft for, say, 75 rounds, then chop it down to 50 so that those extra guys are created. That way they could get signed by other leagues.

Another thing someone could PROBABLY do is create a league as an unafiliated minor league. Then they'd draw from the same players.

Perhaps it will be possible to select '0' for number of rounds...
