Error on Startup

I've had OOTP6 for some time and this is the first that I've seen this happen. On startup, after the loading league progress bar get to 100%, I get an error with the application and one of the send report to microsoft messages. At that point the application ends. I have restarted and still get the error.

I had no problems yesterday either starting up the game or after I was finished as it closed without any indication of a problem.

Is there a way to fix this?

Had ANY crashes, unusual lockups, etc while the game has been open or while attempting to close? It sounds like the league file maybe corrupt. How much free HD space do you have?

This has happened to me, you have to reinstall OOTP and probably restore from backup league.

Np problems closing the game last night (or ever, that I can remember). The current league was just created yesterday and I've simmed through September without any problems to this point.

If this is any help, the league is in 1901 using a 16 team league (2 4-team divisions in each league). Uses real players but have changed the team names. Clear slate as far as records and stats go. Redrafted all players but did not take option to fill minors (which leaves about 22-23 players on each team).

Still 40gig of free space on the drive.

Got around it. Can;t really say fixed it, but got around it.

Changed the setup file to load a different league on startup. Game loaded okay. Chose to continue that league. From that point I opened the other league (expecting an error that meant corrupt gfiles for that league) and it loaded fine.

Not sure why it caused the error on startup but will keep that little work-around in mind.

Some more information on the situation.

After changing the setup and then loading the league that I wanted to run, it works fine. Everything looks good while simmnig, saving, creatibng reoprts, etc..

But the game still gets an error if I start it with that league as the current league. I have to change the setup to open another league and then load the league that I want.

Could there be something about the structure of that league that the game startup doesn't like?

you have corrupted files somewhere. like i said before reinstalling the game fixed the problem. You can try that and copy your league back into the directory and try it then. Its possible the league could be corrupted as well, but I have no idea how you would fix that other than restoring from a backup.

Just another example of why you have to back up your league files. You can always reload your most recent bacup league file and you'd be back in business!

But the league works fine. Just not as the startup league. If it was a corrupted file, it shouldn't load at any point.

Even though it may appear fine, there may be some corruption there that just hasn't fully surfaced.
