Beta Baseball looking for three before entering its 10th season
As the commissioner of Beta Baseball, a fictional talent-only league, I am here to find people to add to our brotherhood of owners. A lot of members of this board are in this league such as mlyons, ill16ca, NealMusser, NickG and others. Here are the open teams and a brief description:
New Skojpp Czars A once great franchise, the Czars have fallen deep in the basement of the Bordurian League, finishing 5th out of 6 in the last three seasons. However, with a decent manager, that team could go far. With perennial all-star 1B Marc-André Blanchette at the top of his game as well as several top prospects on the rise, this could be a team to watch out for in the next few years. They've also accumulated quite a lot of money in recent years, which could be used on free agents or trades. George Falls Barons The premier team in the Bordurian League for a long time, it has lost steam recently, finishing 2nd two years ago and 3rd last season. It is still a solid team with a great bullpen and decent players all around, though it lost Lucas "Mix 96" Claassen to free agency in the offseason. They have a few dozen millions in bank to help them get back to their glory days. Lennongrad Coléoptères Here's a team on the rise. Finishing 4th in the Axelite League for 6 straight years, it finally broke out last season, finishing in second place with their best record ever, beating out that of their first season, when they won the division. Featuring a bunch of star players including 2009 MVP Riley Hemingway, 2001 Rookie of the Year Frank Moore and 3-time Pitcher of the Year pitching legend Filips Onderdonk as well as other stars such as Aimé Stassen and Ollie Griffin, the Coléoptères might just be the team that will knock Pierrefonds out of its AL domination. You can contact me by PM if you are interested in joining the league. Our (primitive) web site is located at http://www.betabaseball.com . Our 2014 free agency period stars Thursday, so hurry up if you want to be there in time .

Bump.
Beta's a fun league, and a great chance for all you statheadzzz to prove you can put together a good team without relying on ratings. Plus many players have silly names!

PM sent to Monsieur le Commish re: New Skojpp.
While I'm scoping out the league, could someone fill me in on the setting? Where/what are Borduria and Axel***? And is there a process to get original player names in, or was that done long ago at the founding of the league? |

Ooh, yes. Borduria and the Axelite Republic are the two countries making up Beta Island. Borduria has English as the main language and the Axelite League has French, German and Dutch, hence the players' names.

Guess I'll get a chance use some German with some of my players ... but looks like I'll have to get translators for the other tongues.

For those of us that don't read German, I'll say that we just have one opening left, second-place finishers Leoonongrad Coléoptères.
