CatoBase Error 3021 and 55 Problem! Please Help! ***PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! READ ON!!***
Not sure if anyone ever found a fix for this, doesnt look likeit, but here goes anyways...
i am using ootp 6.11 and cato 6.1.4. all of my csv data got imported 100% correctly. when i click the create html pages, it starts off fine, and proceeds thru the player pages. then once it gets to the Angels, the 1st team in team pages, i get the 3021 BOF/EOF error, and then followed by the error 55. anyone know how to fix this??? Thanks. Last edited by MLBCOOTP; 02-28-2005 at 02:20 AM. |

I just started playing around with Catobase myself and have the exact same problem. Everything works fine and then I get those errors on Arizona while trying to do their batting pages and then it runs the errors for every team.
I'm also looking for help with this if anyone knows anything about it. |

I'm having this exact same problem, 80 years into my league! I don't want to lose this whole thing. Player pages work fine, but it can't make the leaderboards or win share pages, and I get thaat Error 55 thing. Someone has to know...right?

I get it, followed by Error 3265: Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested namor or ordinal, has occured.
This happens when creating the minor league leaderboards. This is the 4th year of my league. |

Ok, I have screwed around with Catobase for the past 2 days for hours upon hours....including reading half the Catobase error threads on this forum. I tried a few things from one of the threads and it worked like a charm.
I've heard that the 'type mismatch' error that occurs with the importing can also cause problems with creating the HTML pages. It was also noted that the usual problem area with the 'type mismatch' error is in the 'ltrans.txt' file with players being listed as r1359 instead of the p1359 and so on. You may want to check this and see if you have that problem before carrying onto the rest of this. Here is a step by step of what I had to do and hopefully it will fix your problems also: 1) Go to download.com and get a text editor program. I got the 'Boxer Text Editor' and it works great and is easy to use. 2) After finishing your seasons sim, go to the xxxx.lg folder for the league your league and go into the 'League_News_Box' folder and locate the 'ltrans.txt' file and open it into your text editor. 3) Using 'Boxer Text Editor' with the file in place, go to the 'Search' drop down menu and click on 'Replace'. Type in r= in the find field and p= in the replacement field. This program will then find all the r= listed players and change them to the p=. Once this has been completed then try running Catobase again and hopefully that will fix the problems. I have only tried this with my first season, so make sure to check the files after the next season also to see if it creates them after every season.

This looks a lot like the error I've gotten. I'll try your solution and see if I can get it to work. Thanks.

3) Using 'Boxer Text Editor' with the file in place, go to the 'Search' drop down menu and click on 'Replace'. Type in r= in the find field and p= in the replacement field. This program will then find all the r= listed players and change them to the p=. Please don't do this - A players retired number is not the same as his player id number. Usually this error occurs when there are multiple transactions on the same date for a player. Just move the player to the very next day on his last transaction and this will clear up the error. Retired players will not have transactions that are needed in CATOBASE if you have transactions with r players in it just go to the previous year csv files in CATOBASE and get the players P number and change the record in the Trans file to this..... |

When you installed CATOBASE did you install in order: 1. Version 5.4 2. Version 6.0 for the correct exporter programs 3. Version 6.1.4. All versions must be installed/upgraded to get the program to work correctly with the exporters..... |

I found that listed in one of the other threads and just followed the process for it.
I ran this after my first season, so I wouldn't be able to go into the previous years csv file to get the info to change it. Doesn't the game generate the retiring players after I click on start new season? |

Alright, it looks like I'm having a simillar problem with Cato as the guys above. It seems that when it starts to import the ltrans file, it gives a mismatch. My question is, where in the file should I be looking for duplicate entries, and if it's everywhere, is it only transactions when someone switches teams, or even when it's someone getting signed, and then designated for assignment. And once I get that figured out, it says there is an error regarding the ratings that are in there. I tried deleting the year in the database through Cato, but then it gave me that error message again. Any help would be great.

Check for any pitchers that have 0 ip but earned runs. This will cause catobase to have errors. This usually happens when players are called up at the end of season or have been traded and have limited stats.... |

Look for transactions that occur on the same date for a player. Look at the date tags and make sure that you don't have any out of order. Example - date on the tag says it is 6-30 and the next tag is 7-1 and then you get one that says 6-30. Just cut and paste the days in order. Also check all the player stats in the batter and pitcher csv files for stats that are crazy like earned runs but 0 IP. Look for retired players that have transactions. You can delete these from the transactions. CATOBASE does not use them. The error 55 occurs when CATOBASE is looking for a record that does not exist - hense no BOF or EOF record....This occurs when there are errors creating the winshares ( a divide by 0 error is usually the problem )....with no record be written the program then pukes when it does the lookup for the record for the player.....simple, huh... having earned runs with 0 IP isnt a crazy stat. a guy can come in and pitch, and not get anyone out when the manager decides to pull him.
i dont even know which csv file to look at, especially after it already imports everything, plus the fact that the csv files all have split stats for home, away, etc. you're going to have to be a little clearer on what the fix is cause its not making sense to me. Thanks. |

Yes this happens in real life but if MESSES up CATOBASE. When I get a pitcher with 0 IP but he has ERS I simply just add the .333 to his IP, I usually will take .333 from another pitcher on the squad to even things out.... The error is a not an error but a mathematical problem - YOU CAN NOT DIVIDE ANY NUMBER BY 0!!!. Baseball simply puts the infinity sign in their publications, but CATOBASE does not check for this problem prior to doing calculations..... The CSV file you fix is the pitching CSV file in your CATOBASE DATA folder. You can also fix it in the Pitching table in the CATOBASE MDB file, but if you do this and recalculate winshares you will get this error again if you do not fix this in the CSV file..... This is also the error that causes all the ERROR 94 problems with NULL characters when calculating the TEAM Winshares...... Actually looking at your original message and how you got an error on the Angels, just look in the MDB file for 1 of 2 types of errors. The 0 in a IP for a pitcher or 0 Inns played for a defensive player who has an ERROR. I am sure that this is the problem. I have replied to this same error on numerous occasions on this board and it was ALMOST always the same issue. BTW, the first error on the team will process if you press OK but then it will really mess up your teams stats and WINSHARES. I guess the main point is that in order for winshares to be distributed to a player on the team that the player MUST have stats that can be read in to the system. If anyone ever re-writes CATOBASE they can simply add these safeguards in the coding of the calculations - until then, this issue will come up once in a while.... The fix is simple - check the pitching.csv created by the exporter and look for 0 IP for any player in file. If I get the error, I usually just bring the file into excel, sort by IP and get the first record....... This problem can occur in fielding stats also, but in 600+ simmed seasons, I have not had this problems. The pitching problem I have seen in my leagues about 10 times total or once every 60 seasons played..... |

there are 3 different pitching csv files...pitch_career, pitch_game, and pitch_stats but not a pitching.csv file.
am i suppose to look and change every single record in each of the 3 files? thats thousands of records i have to sort thru. seems like a lot to fix it. but if its what i gotta do its what i gotta do. just let me know. also, i find this hard to believe that this is really the problem because i looked thru previous years to see if i had the same kind of numbers in past years and i did. i had pitchers with R and ER with 0 IP and i never had a problem before. |

It is the pitch_stats.csv... It is not difficult to check if this is your problem - open the file in EXCEL and do a sort on the IP column. If you have one with 0 IP then write down the name of the player and exit without saving the CSV file. Now open it in Wordpad, do a find on the player name. Simply change the record from 0IP to .333... This should not take but a couple of minutes at most.... YOU DO NOT NEED TO LOOK THROUGH THOUSANDS OF RECORDS.... ALso, I am only going by what I have experienced with CATOBASE, using it for over 600+ seasons. If this is not you error then maybe someone else will have a solution, but I have helped others with this same problem in the past and ALMOST every time it was this ERROR....It is not PROBABLE that your previous years stats processed winshares correctly if you have players with ERs but no IP for a whole season. Looking back at the last 80 years in my leagues I only had 2 pitchers that fell into this category of 0IP and ERS it is not a common occurrance. Last edited by SandMan; 02-26-2005 at 08:58 AM. |
