Judge Bias

Some judges are just plain terrible at doing their job, while others have a certain bias whether they admit it or not.

I haven't messed with any of it. All of the judges in my game have NO BIAS.... but I am not sure I like that idea. It is more fair I suppose, not not as realistic. There should be completely ass backwards decisions every now and then.

What have you guys done, if anything about the bias option? Have you just assigned random bias' to certain judges or all judges? The same bias for all judges? I just wanted to get some ideas.

Also, with all the judges bias' set to NONE, how does it affect the game if you give a fighter a certain edge in the fight options? Like... hometown favorite or champion? Thanks in advance, as always.

I set my judges to "random" selection and "random" bias -

Somtimes I hand select a judge or two , but always have "random bias" set to ON .

I think it makes the game more realistic this way.

Bad guy it depend on what type of universe your running, If your universe is ment to clean up all the mess in boxing and giving the fair guy a shot, and making the judges judge right then it should not be any bias. But if you want it to be real, then you must set it to random IMO.

I clicked on "Judges", and then pulled the Bias list down... I did not see "random" anywhere. I saw specific bias choices, but nothing random.

OK, let me see if I have this correct... You guys leave the actual judges alone, leaving there individual bias' to NONE... but in the fight options screen, you set the judge bias to RANDOM... correct????

How does that affect the game at all if the judges dont each have a personal bias? Does selecting "random" globally give each judge a random bias or perhaps no bias at all?

It is hard to explain what I am getting at. Do you guys get what I am trying to say? The more I try to explain, the more confused I get.

theBadguy -

What I do is YES, in the prefight screen (options screen) I set the judges bias to "RANDOM" - Then I set the "Select judges" to RANDOM as well -

So, if a judge is choosen who does not have a bias rating...he will not even have the chance to judge in a bias manner during the fight (he simply judges the fight as normal becuase he is not rated for a bias).

I also sometimes if a guy is fighting in his hometown or home Country (for say Asian figheters) I will set the fighter to "hometown favorite or Defending Champion" -

This does help with the randomness of judging.....while at the same time not always producing fights with a bias.....It makes certain rematches of close fights very interesting (because even I am not aware if a judge did show a complete bias in the first fight)...

In my Pyramid Replay universe I have recently been playing around with the judges big time.
Firstly as my universe is currently set in 1960 and I wanted my judges not to be faceless non entities I did not know, I came up with a back story that the best famous fighters from the past are paid by my ruling body to become judges. After all who else but great former fighters know best how to judge a fight?

So I have guys like Kid Gavilan, Max Schmeling and Tommy Loughran juding contests also with famous boxing trainers and journalists as well such as Ray Arcel or Nat Fleisher.

To make the famous judges more like their real selves I gave them biases based on their own ring styles.
Rocky Marciano favours sluugers, Ezzard Charles boxers, Joe Louis favours the current champ, Charley Burley the highest rep and so on.

And as current boxers retire in my universe they will become judges themselves and replace older ones so soon guys like Sugar ray Robinson and Archie Moore will be judging once they hang their gloves up for good.

It's made judges in the game much more fun for me and the outcome of close fights much more unpredictable so i'm happy.

Rgds

I also use random judge and bias. It definately adds more flavor and realism to the game. There have been times when i check scoring and notice BS scoring by a judge and i get really P'OD and say " that judge is full of s--t!" Of course adding spice to an already great game. I would never change the settings because of aforementioned reasons though.

Thats the problem Meade... NONE of the judges have a bias rating. Unless you manually went in and changed the judges ratings... they are ALL set to have no bias...

Hey I always set the bias to random, i think a few results that same a bit screwy seems to add to the drama.

Exactly. This is a problem.

I should clarify that I did go in and manually adjusted a whole group of judges (thus giving them a bias) - I then use the "random" selection for which judges are choosen.....as well as the "random" selection for if even a bias will be used.

Bias

Just wanted to chime in with a quick question. There is a place for a judge to have two separate biases. In the default setting, both biases are set to none. Here is my question, if I fill in both slots with a bias and then set the judge bias to random is it still possible to have the judge score a fight in an unbiased manner or will he randomly move between his two preset biases only?
