Talent drops due to injury - when do they happen?

Occasionally a serious injury will cause a talent drop. In earlier versions of OOTP, I believe the talent drop always happened at the same time as the injury (i.e. if the guy didn't drop right away, you were home free).

Anyone know if this is still the case in 6.12? Or can the drops now happen after the injury?

I've seen some cases of drops after injury, but most of the time I think you'll find they happen during the period of the injury.

You get that sudden talent drop with serious injuries.. but you also get talent drops when people are sitting on the DL. Not sure if thats an injury thing or a not getting playing time thing, I'm inclined to think its the latter, but I have nothing to back it up.
