Post Spring training confusion

Ok first series with OOTP but I got a question about spring training.

WHne it comes up and you have all your players and it has all the + & - signs to raise their levels, now all of them all default 5...I thought their stats were increased or decreased based on what they did during the season.

Also if say I wanted to increased my pitchers velocity...would taking 3 numbers away from his control to add to velocity drop his control rating by 3 also? Like would he go from a A to a D?

lol

Those numbers are only used to show how much time and effort is used in training and improving that area. A decrease will just take less time in training and thus a less chance of improvement while increasing the number will increase the chance of improvement. They are not a direct reflection of his talent ratings.

There is also an option to where your coaches will suggest what players need to be working on. The numbers will change automaticly based on their suggestions.

I haven't gotten to spring training in version 4 yet, I imported a half way through season from 3. In 3 it was a button near the bottom of the screen. Anyone else help him out?

It should be in the bottom right hand corner, same as in OOTP3. If it's not there, then just look along the right hand column, it should be somewhere there, underneath the team logo. In fact, if I remember correctly it was right by the 'run spring training' option. Hope this helps.

There is, after you run spring training. You have to select 'yes' when it asks if you want to see the spring training reports. (I forget what exactly it asks, but there is a pop-up message that asks something to that effect when you run ST.)
