Historical Solo League Questions

Just a few questions on playing a solo historical league on OOTP6 using the Ankit database:

1. As the seasons progress will the game recognize when the number of games in a season changes, when new teams enter the league, when division alignment changes, or when the DH is implemented, etc.

2. When playing the historical leagues the minors are virtually empty. Is there an easy way to increase the players in the minors? I know the minors system may not have been as extensive in the 50's or 60's as it is today, but having only 10 guys in AAA is a hinderance to making moves or trades.

3. What are the best settings for the game? The ones Ankit recommends?

1. Changes must be made manually.

2. Not without introducing fictionals into your league.

3. Personal peferance.

Thanks for your response. As far as changes in the league, is there a list that you are aware of that has dates for these critical changes to league structure, etc?

I don't have the links here at work for websites with the info--but most of your basic baseball reference books have the information too (Total Baseball and the like)

No it doesn't. You have to make these changes manually (as well as changing the team abbreviation when a team moves from one city to another).

No, unless you want to introduce fictional players into the league (which you probably don't want to do if you want an historical replay).

If you are using Ankit's db, IMO yes.

If you haven't already done so, you might also want to check the FAQ forum of this board (OOTP FAQ) for the write-ups on doing historical leagues (among other topics). They are quite helpful and informative. Also you can find real schedules to import in the OOTP Mods forum and many add-ons and extras at JoeRockEHF's download center at http://www.ootpdownloadcenter.com/

Hope that helps.

In regards to question #2: IIRC, Ankit removed a bunch of players from his database - players who barely played in the majors...you might want to compare Ankit's DB to Lahman's DB, and then manually import the players from Lahman that don't exist in Ankit, and then assign them to the appropriate teams...this will help get you more minor leagues/substitute level players without introducing fictional players.

At least, I think Ankit deleted players. I may be mistaken.
