Help for Newbie

Hi,

I would really appreciate help on this:

I just bought the game and have everything working fine. I am interested in trying a historical league. I assume you need to get the real historical data from a 3rd party, so I did so and unzipped it into the "data" file under OOTP 6 folder. This obviously is not the right place as I still see the same default names. I know I'm close but missing something obvious.

1) What folder or file do I unzip the historical data to? When it asks for which file path...what should it be?

2) Is there a 3rd party historical data file that everyone uses and trusts that you could share the link with me.

3) Perhaps most important, have I messed something up? I'd like the option of trying a historical league with real past time players, but if I don't like it, I want to be able to use fictional default players.

Thank you so much in advance for any help. I'd like to figure this out myself without having to go to a techie.

1) What folder or file do I unzip the historical data to? When it asks for which file path...what should it be? It doesn't really matter where you unzip it, the game recommends unzipping it to C:/Stats

2) Is there a 3rd party historical data file that everyone uses and trusts that you could share the link with me. The lahman database (as well as various modifications of it) is what is used as the third party file. Do a search and you should find plenty of places to acquire it.

3) Perhaps most important, have I messed something up? I'd like the option of trying a historical league with real past time players, but if I don't like it, I want to be able to use fictional default players. I can't see how you could have messed anything up. Once you have the lahman database and are ready to begin, use the Start Historical League option. This will start a seperate league in the year of your choice. It shouldn't affect any other leagues you have or your ability to begin "normal' leagues.

Doing a search on "historical" will probably bring up a ton of info to help you out. If you have any more questions ask away.
