Let's talk sim schedules...

Could a league survive simming every day? Every weekday? Is simming 2-3 days a week enough?

I find myself anxiously waiting for the next sim in all of my leagues. I got to thinking about this this morning and I was wondering how successful a league simming every weekday would do. If the league simmed 3 days every sim, it would move along at a pace like most leagues, but your would have content every day.

Is the every day commitment too much to ask of people?

I believe there are a few leagues out there that do this already. My guess is that such a sim schedule would be very draining on a commissioner, especially one who uploads lots of content after a sim. I know it takes me 1-2 hours on a sim day to get the entire site updated. I doubt I would be able to do this every day. There would surely be sims that had to be held off or skipped.

It's exhausting to sim that often. I did it with my league for two seasons and finally had to scale back to every other day. Time Warp sims every weekday, though. I love it as an owner (though I wouldn't want all my leagues to be that fast) but I don't know how Matt (Matt from TN on these boards) does it. He's hardly ever missed a sim that I can remember in... 6 months? 7 months? I know the TWB owners enjoy the sim schedule, so I dont' think it's too much to ask of owners.

ASBL sims every day but we also only sim ONE day per day, not a group of games. That makes it a lot more bearable though some would argue that's too slow. If you ask me, which no one has , I think it's perfect. I can then also join other leagues that move faster and have the best of both worlds.

20th Century is on an accelerated schedule. We submit draft lists on the weekend, the draft is done on Monday, the regular season is simmed on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, the playoffs on Friday with the season being flipped that same day and back to draft lists again on the weekend.

Somehow Joe (Cronin) has managed to keep it up for 80 seasons so far and has only had a couple of bumps in the road along the way.

Personally I enjoy having something everyday. Having two months simmed per day is tough since a bad decision in your lineup can really cost you, but I'd love it if a league simmed a week per day or something similar.

I, for one like a slower paced league. I love a 10 day sim period 3 times a week. Thats just about right up my alley. I would hate to envest alot of time into a season only to have a bad decision cost you badly in the season. OOTP is a detailed game, and i like to pay close attention to the stats and players through out the seasons.

The MBLS is on a sim-per-day schedule as well. Each sim is a single day, which is perfect because you have total control over everything to do with your team. For instance, if a guy gets injured, he can go on the DL the next day.

I think it probably is a little tiring on Joe (the commish), but he has the whole offseason to recuperate.

My league currently sims 6 days a week (I've got to have alteast one day off ). We sim 5 days per sim for a total of 30 days per week. Also, 5 days should allow for a full rotation to occur (except for the times you've got a day off or whatever). The owners seem to enjoy it so far, I enjoy it because the season goes along fast and it seems like something is always happening.

With that said, we have two openings...Oakland and San Francisco, more details can be found here.

I like my leagues a little slower paced. Part of the reason the USBA is so good is that we sim three days a week 7 days per sim. This gives some of the writers a chance to write some really good and relevant articles that aren't out of date a few days later because of a superfast sim schedule.

Although I like the offseason to zip by pretty quickly, a lot of leagues lose momentum by allowing the offseason to drag on for too long of a time.

In the PABF we recently switched from our standard 3 ~10-day sims per week (Sun/Tue/Thu) -to- 4 7-day sims per week (Sun/Mon/Wed/Thu).

A little extra work for me but seems to be working out well.

Leaves Fri/Sat open for drinking

Both the WCBL and the HPBL sim three times a week, and use a 7-8-7 format. The WCBL sims Mon-Wed-Fri at 6-8-6 PM and the HPBL sims Tue-Fri-Sun at 6-10-6 PM (Pacific)

I Like the MBLS

As Jamey said we sim every day, but only during baseball season. When the rl MLB teams go to spring training and baseball starts appearing in the sports pages again our league gets active. I know it's a grind for the commish and I really appreciate it.

I really like being able to adjust my lineup for each game based on who's hitting and history against the other team's starter. Now, if my team were only good enough for that to really make a difference I'd be happy. Once I get moved from the backwoods of upstate New York to a more baseball-friendly environment, and I find some folks who can play baseball (and want to play on my team) all that will change.

I prefer the faster sims. Get through it all quicker. That's a reason I like Time Warp. 15 days a sim, every weekday. I wouldn't even mind it if it was faster. The shorter sim schedules (7 days, 3 days a week) are boring to me. Nothing is happening.

I like TWB 15 day sims 5 days a week even though my first season (last season) I had trouble keeping up with it all.
Also weekend are terribly boring since I have loads of time but no simming is done.

The SSBL sims 4 days a week 7-8-7-8 which for the math challenged is 30 days a week.
I have had a few problem keeping up but this is the first league I have ever ran and I am learning.

Personally I prefer more games to be simmed instead of more sim days. 3 sims a week, 15 days per sim is my favorite. It makes for quick seasons, and you can actually see your team develop more quickly.

Pretty much. I like to see my prospects develop over time, make the bigs, retire, enter the hall of fame, repeat. At the rate some leagues go it takes a few years just to watch a prospect finish his career.
