Maybe I need a baseball team to call my own
I have followed baseball over the past 6 or so years I guess, starting by watching just the World Series each year to watching as many games that were shown on TV as I could last season.
So far I have watched just for the love of the game and not for the love of any one team or dislike of another. Maybe now I am ready to make a commitment! What I want from each of you is to promote your team as only you can. Why should I support your team? I want to hear from at least 31 of you, one from each of the MLB teams and another who just watches for the love of the game. But if you support a team that has already been mentioned then please, throw your in as well. Every team has an equal chance from the Yankess to the D-Rays.Make me fall in love with your team by telling me they are the saddest tale ever told or something about their great history or even tell me something that happened while you were at a game. Whatever I decide this should be very interesting

My team is not actively soliciting new fans. We are booked right now. I will have Theo add you to our waiting list.

The A's bandwagon is currently open. We have lots of rookies this year so you can start fresh.

I don't know if you're aware of this, but my team is strongly considering capturing the overseas market by buying time on the BBC advertising its new name: The Los Angeles and United Kingdom Angels of Anaheim.

Ditto UG's post.
How great would it be to watch one of the greats set a Home Run record. That's what it is all about. That and the G-men are looking good this year. Do yourself a favor and start rooting for the 2005 Champs right now. As far as sad tales? Try Game 6 of the 2002 series? Watch that, it's pretty sad. You can also see the 2000 NLDS vs the Mets, the 1987 NLCS vs St.Louis, the WS against the A's...I could go on. I've been a fan for 18 years (wow, I can't believe I just said that even), gone to hundreds of games, I'll even be nice and let you act like you've been waiting for their next championship all this time. Think of it as a free pass straight to "Die-Hard Fan" |

Be an Astros fan - You only have to cheer for them when they're winning. When they're losing, just act like you don't care and finish milking your bull. Pull hard on the teet, sometimes it takes a while for the milk to come out.

Phillies. There are no good reasons presently. Well we got Charlie Manuel to manage. Actually that kinda sucks. We got a new stadium! But that doesn't really help you out too much. Ahh, the Phillie Phanatic, best mascot in all of baseball. Enjoy.

The Orioles. Because they're a rising team (well, at least offensively) in an extremely competitive division (everyone loves an underdog), they play in a beautiful stadium, and you can watch Sammy Sosa either set off some serious fireworks or fall flat on his face.
Good seats are still available... |

If you watch games on TV over there I think it would make sense to root for a team that gets a decent amount of Air time. Rooting for the Yankees who I assume get a decent amount of airtime though would be like rooting for Manchester United. However you could watch games on MLB.TV which would give a full selection.
I'm a Cubs fan, but I wouldn't recommend becoming one. It's too trendy and unlike the Red Sox we have an actually curse called mismanagement. Several teams I would never chose Tampa, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Colorado, and Milwaukee. If they ever won, it would be magical, but they will never win it all, at least not in the foreseable future. Milwaukee is actually the best option of the group. If I had to pick a team it would be Cleveland, young team with some great potential. Of course your going to have to deal with a fire sale in a couple of year. If past trends continue. You could also pick by favorite city or a city you actually might want to visit. Another good choice woulb be the Nationals since they are a new team and you would be joining all the other new fans. Plus it's a great city to visit but Im saying that as an American (don't know if it has a lot of international appeal.) |

The Cardinals: Anhueser-Busch. The Arch. Pujols. Edmonds. Rolen. McGwire. Last player to steal 100 bases in a season. The Wizard. The White Rat. Stan the Man. Bob Gibson. Red Schoendienst. Dizzy Dean. Rogers Hornsby. And of course - FredBird!

Years of futility and being able to legitimately whine and bitch that you have no freakin' chance until baseball is fixed. And we follow moneyball. Not very well based on this offseason, but in theory we follow it.
