Yeah, this group is loaded with Cubs and Braves teams. Just how the seeding worked this time. I haven't really looked closely at all the groups, but I'd imagine there are a few that are loaded with Yankees squads.

My Predictions:
Top Team: 1929 Cubs- This team has one of the best lineups in the history of baseball. I expect them to put up huge numbers this round.

Biggest Surprise: 1962 Tigers- Very Nice offense. Jim Bunning and the rest of the staff just might be enough to squeek them into round 2.

Biggest Dissapointment- 1964 White Sox. The team has the pitching, but I don't think they will score enough to advance.

Batting Champ: Rogers Hornsby('29 Cubs)

Home Run Champ: Hack Wilson('29 Cubs)

Wins Champ: Dizzy Dean('34 Cards)

How will the Bash Brothers do against solid pitching every day?
How many Braves teams will advance to round 2?
Will '98 Sammy lead the league in homers?

We are about to find out

Same here. They are in a deep hole now at the AS break. It may be impossible for them to advance. The Bash Brothers have 15 HR's combined at the break, that simply won't cut it for them.

The Pirates really know how to stack a team. 2 in the last round advance and the '02 version is annihilating opponents.

They are really rolling right now, I wonder if it will keep up in the later rounds when the competition becomes stiffer. It will be interesting to see.

The following teams advanced to round 2:
Code:
Year	Team	Wins	Losses
1902	Pirates	104	58
1934	Cards	100	62
1939	Cubs	98	64
1911	Red Sox	94	68
1954	Dodgers	93	69
1958	Braves	91	71
1923	Indians	91	71
1979	Royals	90	72
1936	Cubs	89	73
1931	Dodgers	89	73
1909	A's 88	74
1998	Cubs	88	74
2000	Braves	87	75
1966	Orioles	86	76
1983	Dodgers	81	81
1941	CHA	79	83*
*The 1941 White Sox won a 1 game playoff over 1993 Royals to advance to Round 2.

The following teams were eliminated:
1962 Tigers(78-84)
1962 Braves(74-88)
1915 Senators(64-98)
1993 Royals(79-83)
1969 Braves(75-87)
1996 Cardinals(69-93)
1908 White Sox(66-96)
1968 Yankees(57-105)
1923 Reds(84-78)
1929 Cubs(81-81)
1964 White Sox(79-83)
1973 Mets(66-96)
1982 Braves(78-84)
1921 Cards(69-93)
1961 Braves(63-99)
1988 A's(62-100)

A lot more surprises in this group:
The #2 Seed('29 Cubs) and #3 Seed('88 A's) were eliminated, while the #30 Seed('11 Red Sox) and #32 Seed('41 White Sox) advanced. The 1911 Red Sox actually ended up winning their division, while the 1988 A's ended up in last in the same division.
