Looking to 2005

Just wondering which 3 fights you are most looking forward to in 2005? They don't have to be confirmed, if a fight is rumoured to be taking place you can say that too. Also, which 1 fighter do you think will have a 'break through' year and become a star?

For me, the 3 fights I want to see most are:

1) Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales

2) Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu

3) Felix Trinidad vs Winky Wright

What a year this could be! We may also see the re-emergence of the heavyweight division if this so called tournament takes place but maybe this is hope more than anything.

As for the star for 2005, in my opinion it has to be Samuel Peter. He hasn't been tested properly yet but unlike others I think he probably is the real deal and will be a world champion of some kind. I haven't seen the Diaz fight yet but heard he destroyed Diaz. We NEED some exciting heavyweights so let's hope there will be more youngsters coming through like him.

Cheers

The 3 I'm looking forward to are:

1) Peden vs Campbell (I'm definately going to see this one live, so I'm looking forward to it a fair bit.)

2) Tszyu vs Hatton (if it happens)

3) Klitschko vs Lewis (I read this morning that Lewis might come out of retirement to fight the big Ukrainian. Could be what the HW division needs, but as Dave1877 says, we also need some talented & exciting young HW's to make the big step up.)

Shane.

2) Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu

3) Felix Trinidad vs Winky Wright
-----------------------------------

We better learn from Deigo vs. Castillo because these fights has been announce but no contract has ben signed, the tito fight might happen on may 14, but the hatton fight won't happen, hatton keeps bitching every now and then about the time!!

on to the title of the thread.

1. Pac vs.Eric (Pac 3rd KO)

2. Spinks vs. Judah (spinks 12rd UD)

3. Toney vs. Ruiz in april (Toney said the fight is done and he and don came to a agreement that satisfied him and had no options!) Toney 8rd TKO

Winky vs. Tito don't ring my bell because winky do not excite me.

I don't care for Toney but I'll be rooting for him against Ruiz and then please no one give Ruiz another title shot ever.

All the fights listed above look good to me. I'm also anxious to see who Oscar & Shane fight when they drop down to 147!

John Ruiz is one of the greatest heavyweigts of all time. A first ballot future hall of famer. He's unstoppable, invincible, and unbeatable. Look at the names of the fighters he's beatened. All time greats like Hasim rahman, Fres Oquendo, Kirk Johnson, Andrew Golota, Evander Holyfield, Tony Tucker, in front of sell out crowds and monster pay per view buyrates. Forget the roy jones fight. that was a fluke, Ruiz was dealing with a bitter divorce at the time. Ali and Louis are lucky they didnt have someone like Ruiz to deal with. Ruiz is the type of talent that only comes once in a lifetime. The speed, power and boxing ability that Ruiz possesses is amazing to behold. He glides around the ring effortlessly, with the grace of a ballet dancer. 20 years from now they will be saying "Man that Ruiz can sure fight!, they don't make fighters like that anymore". To top it all off, Norman Stone is the greatest trainer/manager since Tex Rickard!! With Stoney's calm, soothing, unflappable, sensible demeanor in between rounds makes him one of the finest cornermen ever, right up their with Jack Blackburn, Ray Arcel, and Eddie Futch!!!!! John Ruiz.......the man, the myth, the legend.

Pacman vs Morales , Morales vs Barrera 4, Winky vs Tito, Tarver vs Johnson, Klitschko vs. Lewis. If all those fights come off this year i'd consider it a banner year . Spinks vs Judah, Gatti vs Mayweather, Hopkins vs Eastman , whew not too bad.

I think Gatti has a better shot against Mayweather than a lot of people think. It's a no-brainer that Mayweather can box circles around him, but Gatti will keep the pressure on and I want to see how Floyd reacts when Arturo connects with the hook. My mind says Mayweather, but my heart says go Gatti go!

Toney beats Ruiz by unanimous decision.
Tszyu/Hatton: I like the match up, but I'm thinking Tszyu by middle round KO.
I bet 'cha Sam Peter gets a shot at Klitschko before the year is over.

I may be in the minority on this, but I would never bet on Toney. I like watching him, but the guy is 37 or 38, he has to have put on 60 to 70 pounds over his career. It just seems to me that he is going to fall apart suddenly and completely. I wouldn't bank on it not being his next bout, be it Ruiz or any other heavyweight.

He just strikes me as a Cinderella waiting for the stroke of twelve, I certainly mean no disrespect to him but it all has to catch up with him at some point - doesn't it?

I disagree...this is not smart matchmaking on Gatti's part, imo Gatti is totally outclassed(don't look now but he's not a very good boxer)...He couldn't deal with De la Hoya's speed and movement, has has no chance here...(well maybe a punchers chance )

We all like Gatti I know, but this is not a good move for him...

I agree with Mayweather will probably outclass Gatti, but I wouldn't consider it a bad move for Gatti to seek a fight with Mayweather. Everyone has Mayweather either #1 or #2 on the P4P lists, he's considered the champion of the division, etc. etc. Gatti's goal is the same as all other fighters, to be champion. In order to do that, he has to fight Mayweather, or find a new weight division.

I say the right move is for him to fight Mayweather. He has to try.

On a related note, while it may not be the biggest draw and exciting fight prospect, this weekend's fight between Gatti and Leija has me anticipating it.

Erick-----

Is Castillo now fighting Juilo Diaz instead of Corrales?

Isn't this the second time we have been snubbed?

That's also true. The money Gatti would make from that fight would be good enough to retire all of us.
