Boys of Yesteryear - New League Forming!!

Boys of Yesteryear is a new historical OOTP 6 league that is forming in the 1901 season. We will try to create as much historical accuracy as possible around a standard OOTP 6 league. We will play the as-scheduled schedules published my MLB, we will adjust stadiums dimensions, names, team moves, logos, etc. Some issues are not accurate due to the difficulty in implementing withing the OOTP 6 engine or for some attempt at league parity. For example, due to contract values not being able to be brought down to 1901 levels, we need to handle finances outside the historical norm. We also felt that the ability of players to move more often was a good thing and that free agency creates a more active league, so that is left on rather than waiting until that actually occured. This is just a small taste of what we are trying to do. Nothing truly unique, just a league in an era that we hope will draw some great owners.

If early era baseball is up your alley, please stop by our league site at www.boysofyesteryear.com and look around. Take a look at our rules, and if you are interested, sign up for a franchise (Please be sure to post your app in the Original Owners Forum). We currently have 13 of the teams open and will schedule the fantasy draft to populate the league as soon as we have all 16 teams filled.

If you have any questions, please post them here or send me a PM.

Thanks for looking and hope to talk with many of you soon!

Bob

Sweet, another historical league. Can never have enough of those, especially ones starting in 1901.

Step right up! Only TWO left! Get 'em while they're hot!

Milwaukee and the Phillies. There must be some baseball purist out there who wants the franchise that becomes the famed St. Louis Browns!! Come on people! You know you want to!

Its a shame so many historical leagues choose to include free agency, other than the players the reserve clause was the most important facet of baseball in those days. Just my opinion but incorporating free agency into historical baseball just ruins the whole "feel" of the league and makes it just another modern variation. I keep waiting for OOTP to make finances without free agency an option.....

Yes, if you could lose free agency without losing the financial engine entirely, then it might be tempting, but a league with no contract negotiations is a relatively dull concept in the middle of a long season.

With regards to opening in the league we've got some people in the wings, and this is last call if you want to be considered!

No thanks, 'Free Agency' is a deal breaker for me. Free agency may create more movement but only at the expense of the "franchise builders". I prefer the good old days of team identity and stability.

Possible need for 1 more owner

I've got one owner who has vanished since his application, and so I'm guessing he may not surface again. If you would like to join our league, which has just started the initial draft, please stop by and fill out an application in the New Applicants forum. The team is the Phillies.
