OMG!!! Please tell me I can still do this!

Earlier this month, I went on the OOTP6 discussion board and asked if I could transfer files from Season Ticket Baseball 2003 into the OOTP6 game so I could continue a career league that I was already several seasons into.

I was told that it could be possible to download the OOTP5 demo and use that as a "bridge" to transfer the files into OOTP6. So I did the download just to see if it would work and after a couple of tries, it did. If the transer didn't work, I would have just left everything alone and continue to use STB2K3.

Excited about the result, I asked for OOTP6 for Christmas and will be receiving it on New Year's Day because my brother, who supposedly got it for me, was in Virginia on Christmas. I uninstalled OOTP5 the same day I downloaded it because the space on my C drive was running out.

Now knowing that I was getting OOTP6, I went back to download the OOTP5 demo and was horrified to see that the trial expired and it wouldn't let me do it again! If I remembered right, the demo was supposed to last nine days and I had it in there for only 30 mins before uninstalling it. I only wanted to see if the transfer would work so I knew whether to ask for OOTP6 or not.

PLEASE tell me there is a solution to this because I'm really freaking out right now. I invested too much time into this and don't want to lose what I got. If I contacted technical support, could they help me in some way?

Send the file to someone who has v5 and they can do it for you.

Judging from what you said: "I was told that it could be possible to download the OOTP5 demo and use that as a "bridge" to transfer the files into OOTP6. So I did the download just to see if it would work and after a couple of tries, it did. If the transer didn't work, I would have just left everything alone and continue to use STB2K3." I'm assuming that you were already able to transfer or import your league into OOTP5 format??? Is that right? and now OOTP5 is gone, right?

In that case, you should already have a league file in your programs folder where OOTP5 resided. Meaning now you should be able to install OOTP6 and then "import" that OOTP5 league into 6.

Another solution is to borrow another pc and then download OOTP5.

Now if you have the time and need to do it ALL from the beginning, and you have no access to another pc, you'll just have to re-install your operating system. But that's a lot of work!

Note: Although your post seems sincere, there are those who might use such a story to get a crack from someone in order to use or pirate the software. In any case, here's a blatant example of someone looking for cracks on a forum:

Currently, I have STB2k3 in my computer and nothing else. Everything transferred perfectly to OOTP5 when I tried it and now OOTP5 is uninstalled. From what f.montoya is saying (believe it or not, one of the top relievers on my team is "Frank Montoya") even if OOTP5 is uninstalled, there is a "ghost" file somewhere that would help me go to OOTP6 problem-free?

I was thinking this while lying in bed last night. Tell me if this would work:

Could I download the OOTP5 demo onto another computer (there is another PC here in addition to a laptop), put that file onto a 512MB memory stick that I just got (how ironic, another Christmas present!), then move it into my computer and do everything from there? From what I'm understanding from the responses, it's possible.

Thanks to everyone who responded and put my mind at ease a little bit. Believe me, I completely understand the piracy issue and figured that was the reason why I couldn't get another trial after thinking about it a little more. But my intentions are sincere and I'm counting down the days until I can finally download OOTP6.

One more thing, am I right in saying the trial is nine days?

Thanks again and Happy New Year to all!

Yes, you can download the trial on the other computer and do your conversion.

Theoretically, if you had 50 computers, you could keep moving from one to the other until all of the demo periods ran out.

Also, he is not saying that there is a "ghost file" but rather the data from your league. He is thinking that you already upgraded your STB2k3 file and used it in the OOTP5 demo. If you didn't do that, then his suggestion wouldn't work. It also wouldn't work if you deleted all of the OOTP5 directories and datafiles after you uninstalled the game.

And the demo lasts nine days?
