Game Crashes After Day 1 of Schedule

Has anyone encountered this problem before? I created a Custom League, consisting of two leagues, eight teams each league. I imported the sixteen teams from different historical leagues. I used the following procedure:
  • Downloaded each historical league I wanted to draw a team from, using Ankin DB5 Career Average database.
  • Had OOTP6 generate a two league, 16 team setup.
  • Used Pierre's(?) Team Importer from his utilities suite to import 16 historical teams (each from a different year) into the league, overwriting the teams created for the league by OOTP6.
  • I managed one team; computer managed the other 15.
  • Used the DH in both leagues. Ran Computer Manager on all teams prior to start of games, so CM would know DH was being used.
  • Played my team's first game, with the other ones being simmed at the same time.
  • After completion of first days' game, as OOTP is recording stats, the game crashes: "OOTP6 has encountered an error and needs to close"
  • Start OOTP6 again; continue the league. Looks like all stats got recorded.
This is where the problem comes in. When I go to the schedule, it goes to the line score screen for the first days' games. If I go to the next day, it simply shows the schedule and game times, but will not permit me to play. If I try simming the games for day 2, game crashes with the same error message.

BTW, just to test, I tried creating and running a straight historical league. No problems. Was able to sim a full month's worth of games with no problem. I also tried simming all of the first days' games in my league to see if it was the Human Manager setting or something, but the league still crashed. My computer far exceeds the minimum game requirements, so I can't believe that is an issue (Athlon 2.2 ghz chip; 512 MB Ram; 64 MB video card). I am running Win XP, Home Edition, without SP2.

If anyone has any clue as to what might be the problem, I would appreciate your help. I have set this league up THREE times now (at a cost of numerous hours ), and always encounter the same problem. I thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

Are you running w/ "in game sound" ON? I've tried to duplicate this issue as atleast one other has reported it but was unable to.

No, I have in game sound turned off. BTW, I am probably "the other one". I tried your initial suggestions (to no avail), so was simply trying to determine if anyone else had encountered this problem and been able to fix it.
